[ROM][UNOFFICAL]LineageOS 13 6/11/2017

For me, the best build so far as been the April one. I did try the newest, but the super slow boot was a killer for me. I also experienced some wifi issues. Once the sensor deamon crashing bug is resolved, I am certainly giving it a go again! Thank sir!

Update:
I found that by dirty flashing over the original one, the long boot seems to not be present. I figured I would give it a go. It seems fine. I did find the wifi issue to be back (have to turn off the radio off and on). Before, I had gotten to a point where I had no issues or very few wifi drops.

Yeah. That trick only worked for so long :/
 
I ran into that for a bit after installing certain apps. Dirty flashing did the trick. Since that last post, my phone has been running without the slow boot issue and without having to dirty flashing the image again. Sorry I left that out on the original post.

Well guys, I finally got too frustrated with the Volt's GPS and took advantage of the Moto G5 Plus' falling price. Anyone looking for a Sprint MVNO phone, this is a great option.

As for Volt development, I haven't yet decided what this means. I'd at least like to find someone else who can maintain the LOS 13 build if nothing else. Otherwise I might donate one of my phones to a LOS dev.

In the meantime, thanks everyone, it's been a great learning experience.

Do you at least have a copy that isnt with the slow boot issue or can we manually remove it? Really wanna know before i make this phone just for fun
 
LOL....I don't think I could handle having an Oreo ROM on my Volt. I'd probably dip my phone in milk and eat it....Personally, I'm using the Xperia Stock ROM with the Volt Dos OTG1 Kernel, not the beta, and pico open gapps. I've eliminated pretty much every bug or glitch and I'm having a very smooth experience overall. I'm using kernel adituor to tweak the kernel settings. There are a few things I had to do to get it to run very well though. Kinda time consuming, but once you get everything in place you can just make a nandroid backup.
 
I was having the slow boot issues on the newest one but I left it in a drawer for the past week and now it boots just fine in about a minute. I'm completely sure I didn't do anything to fix it.
 
Sometimes my Wifi connection goes to "No Internet" when other devices can continue to use it fine. Turning Wifi off and on again fixes this. Is this a common issue, and does it have a fix? All I saw were fixes for SMS/LTE problems, not Wifi.

SNS, could you provide me with links to the Rom and Kernel you're using for your Volt? I can't seem to find it.
 
I just upgraded my Nexus Players to Android 8 Oreo and tellin ya it way better than 7, so imo would hope the LineageOS dev here would move away from 13 and make a 14 ( or Oreo ) version for Volt. It may help keep Volts alive for years

I actually think 7 was a beta for the eventual 8

This is a great ROM that has kept my old Volt alive as a TextNow/Toy phone. Works pretty perfect, no WiFi issues, although haven't been able to find a fix for proximity. Also, haven't managed to fix a few loop issues with certain apps or launchers like Nova but would love to see someone pick up the development and keep the updates/patches coming.
 
First time installing this ROM...
The nice thing about this ROM is that there is no aftermarket battery id check which stock prevented me from using.
The bad thing about this ROM is it's unbelievably unstable for me. crash after crash.

Magisk can't hide, but that's an issue with magisk probably.
Bitdefender ends up with sig-killing everything and having init load the bootanimation. so bizarre.
Tring to bring up P-rivacy Guard (uh, why were those words being censored?) which worked earlier now crashes Settings with SEGV_MAPERR while it's trying to load the apps.

I hope to work on building my AOSP ROM from scratch and testing it with "fastboot boot", but I can already see there's a lot of device specific stuff that I'll need to take into consideration.

So far, I'm especially glad this ROM is letting me use the aftermarket battery. I'm hoping my old original and bloated battery was the cause of the I/O emmc errors I was having.
This ROM will at least let me test this theory and based on previous tests of wiping/reflashing/badblocks, I ought to know sooner than later (days) if the battery ended up being the cause.

Oh, one other thing... why would it say "Unsupported SanDisk SD card"? I created 2 partitions and one was readable in stock and it's readable in linux, but not at all in LOS?
The home button is pulsing/color-cycling when the device is powered off? Hmm, looks to be delayed or something. I unplugged the USB and it still pulsed. Plugged it back in and after a bit, stopped pulsing, then showed it was plugged in and continued pulsing. I unplugged it again and after 5 minutes, it's still pulsing.

EDIT1:
Seems the pulsing home LED is related to 100% charge. I think I found that when the battery wasn't at 100%, it wouldn't pulse constantly when powered off.

Thanks for this! This was the only phone I still have with a removable battery. I wanted mine to run without the battery at all, so I can use it safely as an alarm clock and white noise generator pretty much right next to my head at night. Nobody wants to wake up to a fire from a swollen battery, and mine had already begun to do so :/

I used your build and modified 1 line to not shut down at 0% battery usage. Then, I wired a 5V to 3.3V converter to the battery terminals with an extra 47k resistor between GND and pin 2 to trick the phone into thinking it has a battery. Combined, this works great! LineageOS is required as the stock firmware detects the battery is not genuine (no sh*t), and the patch was necesary as I couldn't get my soldering trick to have it detect more than 0% battery life.

I wish it wasn't so complicated and that you could just power the phone off the charger without a battery, but here we are.
