Anyone else having problems with Titanium Backup PRO 4.5.2? Ever since this morning's update it keeps hanging and FC-ing. I can't get it to complete a single operation. Tried reinstalling but to no avail.

Never mind. I booted Recovery, wiped the caches, and rebooted. After that it seems to be OK.

Some of the newer versions of TB seem to hang up for me to. Usually a reboot takes care of it. TB also recommends you update to the latest SU.

I like to check the market for updates every morning, so as of last night I had the latest SU. But there is a version 3.0.5 update today, so I installed that. However, the comments associated with it are quite bleak. It seems everyone is regretting this update and reporting problems with their phones after using it. One posted that an older version can be had over at XDA, in case anyone needs it.

Thanks!

Update - Not sure if it was the SU update, but something after that update caused Opera Mobile to keep crashing back to the home screen while browsing. A reboot did not help. I had to remove and re-download/install Opera Mobile. Now it seems to be working OK. But this is not the first time I've had to reinstall Opera.

That is entirely possible, but I thought it was only wifi tether that overheats like a mofo (please correct me if I'm wrong). So I use wired tether most of the time. That doesn't seem to overheat my ally.

Wired tether will do it too, just not as fast. While working tethered (pdaNet) this past winter in our RV I frequently had to set the phone against a cool/cold window to cool it down. Removing the battery cover also help some.

I'm curious how you connect wired tether to the Ally? Do you connect it to a USB port on a router? I've never seen this done and would like to learn more.

With a USB cable from the Ally to a USB port on the computer. You also need a tethering program on the Ally and drivers on the computer. I use pdaNet, available on the Android Market, because it supports VPN and did not require me to root the phone. I've rooted since. See the FAQs at June Fabrics PDA Technology Group for more details.

It helps that I have an unlimited data plan on that line with Verizon.

Lol. Well, I guess I was thinking of 'wired tether' being when you tether more than one device, yet use wired connections instead of wifi (which would be a hot spot, I guess). I have actually done what you are describing, using EasyTether. And the Ally is connected to my PC with the USB cable when doing so. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly when I read "wired tether". :) Thanks.

Hey I've flashed both StormDroid and Velocity on my phone (Velocity wins IMO, I love the Dalvik2Cache feature and the theme). But there's a problem: now instead of the awesome LG logo popping up, the StormDroid one comes up and then the Velocity matrix splash screen. Any ideas how to get back to pure Velocity? Thanks in advance :)

Some of you may remember the method I mentioned on the 1.1 thread of remapping the QWERY slider's HOME key to eliminate my frustrating tendency to press it while using backspace. I applied the same procedure in Velocity 1.2.1 and it isn't working. Mapping the key to SPACE like I did before, it still works as if it were mapped HOME.

I am guessing there is something different about the keyboard files in this version from what was used in 1.1. If anyone else is seeing this too or could provide information on what is different I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks.

Would any of you by chance have encountered any kind of issue with your QWERTY kepad? I've had 4 different malfunctions requiring a reboot, ranging from stuck keys repeating a letter to typing 2 keys like "re" and being whisked away from email or this forum to either the calendar or setting up a new email account! Plus my remap procedure for the annoying qwerty Home key won't work in this Velocity version. A reboot always fixes the issue (until next time).

I'm wondering if there is a keyboard bug?

Sorry sav, I dont get paid again untill the 21st. the drawback for bi weely pay, but I willl definatley be donating to the awesome rom.

First off I love the new rom. This phone has survived way beyond its time thanks to you guys.

Wondering if anyone has noticed a heat issue? This started today and it has me stumped. Basically the phone feels way hotter than it should. As if I am leaving the screen on and brightness up all the way for long periods of time, but this is happening even when the screen is off. I'm worried the cpu is pegged out or there is something wrong. I'm not teathering and the phone is not overclocked. I also notice that the battery is not charging as quick as it used to and is draining rapidly...

Do a battery spin test on it. lay it on flat serfice and spin it . if it spins like a top its a bad battery. If not than it's the phone.

It seems you're the second one to report these symptoms. Did you overclock at some point in the past? I ask because I recently had to throttle back 1 step from 748 after installing V1.2.1. I had, in the past, been able to run stable at 768. Overclocking 'can' damage a cpu over time, and I am wondering if that is a possibility on at least my Ally and maybe others as well. But I use mine a lot and have not had a heat issue.

I use an extended battery, though, since day one. That might matter.

I visit the Market daily to see if I have any updates pending. Over the past 3 days it keeps telling me I have updates for the same app over and over. Today it showed 6 apps, but only 1 actually had an update. Each of the others, when opened individually, shows only Open and Uninstall.

But if I tap on the Update 5 button in the upper RH corner, it goes ahead and claims to download and update all of the apps.

Anyone else seeing this?

I have not experienced this . just updated all my apps this morning, rebooted and have checked again, not showing any udates avail. One suggestion I might make is to go in to the Velocity Tool Kit/Troubleshooting/Clear Cashe. My resolve the issue?

Thanks. I just did that (again). Here lately I will see low memory warnings sometimes when updating/re-installing larger apps like Opera Mobile (12MB). I have to clear the download cache and 'free memory' each time that happens to proceed.

Another issue I've been seeing also occurred in Velocity 1.1. Using Airplane mode will gray the signal bars, but the little airplane icon won't appear. At that point, most of the power key menu gets grayed out, so I have to Power Off, then power on again, at which point the plane icon appears and the menu is restored. That happened a lot in version 1.1 too.

I've been aware of this problem myself for a while, I just didn't see it as a major problem b/c with Root Explorer I'd just go in and delete the download.apk everytime. Also, on the Airplane Mode issue, I've seen that happen with my ally on android stock rom and Velocity, but the greyed out options in Velocity still work (go figure lol) XP

Where do you find download.apk?

When the menu for the power key greys out on my Ally, the airplane mode selection is inoperable. A tap on it does nothing. The same with the reboot selection. So I am forced to use power off and then start back up in order to make all those selections usable again. What it looks like to me is that the Ally gets "half way" to execution of the airplane mode selection then just stops. Like a program line counter gets derailed or something.
