Oh my... this is really, really smooth. I am about to be a flash ho again (that didn't sound the way it did in my head).

My wifi sleep issue seems to still be there... is there a setting I can toggle in the Tweaks?

I am gonna have to give CM10 a try though... for now, gonna enjoy this. Thanks for all the help. It humbles me to know that as much as I *think* I know about modding, there are always folks here to bail me out. :)

CM10 is awesome! But I think I might be coming back to Viper until they work out some more kinks.

So how does this Viper OTA tweak thing work? Should I have schedule update checked on or off? I sure don't want to be taking HTC's OTA :p

Leave updates checking off in the normal settings.

We will have to flash one more update by hand soon and then we'll get the new setting for that.

Tre - please check your new app, Power Saver Settings, as well as Venom Tweaks, misc tab at bottom, scroll down to disable htc smartsync.

I still see the blasted wi-fi signal with red exclamation mark pop-up on the left side when I wake the device.

I have to be doing something wrong. I had isolated the hidden Power Saver Settings on stock (the one you mention Early that has an app in Viper) and unchecked "Put data connection to sleep." Did that again now just now.

In wi-fi settings, I have it toggled to never sleep.

Familiar with tapping your power graph to get this one? Can you show me a copy?? Thanks!

Hmmmm. Except for those breaks showing a reset or power off, your wifi signal is showing continuously on.

Is it not syncing when screen off?

The exclamation mark next to the wifi signal, usually on the left side of the notification bar, indicates that an open wifi signal is available.

When you see that, your wifi icon on the left replaces with 3G?

I want to be 100% on what you are seeing.

I've probably been a doofus about it... LOL.

I assumed that signal was a wi-fi disconnect. I don't have the wi-fi scan running, so that never occurred to me. It always flashed for an nanosecond and then disappeared. I must have been wrong about that all along.

But, on stock, I did have wi-fi disconnects when the screen went to sleep. If I was downloading or uploading, stuff stopped... so I erroneously connected that issue to the symbol.

My research since flashing today confirms your point. My phone has been able to download items with the screen off, so this ROM has corrected that issue. I just lost it when I saw that symbol again :D

Excellent. :)

Try Wifi Analyzer to get a bead on wifi signals that you are picking up (also useful to help you see if you are sharing a channel with a neighbor, you'll likely get performance when you don't).

Last but not least, always give your router a unique name (becomes the network name), that helps you and your stuff.

Thanks Early. I need to make an auto thank you text for you and Rx...

The re-engineered Google Now works with this ROM, correct? Anyone tried it? Worth getting?

Took the plunge this morning and liking it so far, didn't fix the problem I was experiencing, but it is really cool so far!

Only one issue (other than my previous problem), I no longer hook up to 4G, drove through two areas that have it and nothing happened.

From what I've been reading in the main section, they've done something in the latest OTA to address 4G, hopefully that will fix whatever it is.

Vin said he was starting work on that last night, but a slow start because he had to recover his crashed laptop. (I think that's two laptops for him at this point.)

If you havent found it yet there is an option in the tweaks to fix the wifi issue. Its in the Misc. section at the bottom

It was slated for us, and the rom released without it so that the release wouldn't hang over that last item.

Work is complete, they were talking about pushing it to us with some maintenance stuff and then got wind of this ota coming.

So, one more flash coming for the update then we'll have that feature as well.

Just as a small update to you guys, we are working on the new ROM. It's going to take some time to get everything updated for it, but there are plenty of new things coming for it like:

  • Venom Superuser App
  • Completely rewritten viperControl (more features, better code, easier to use)
  • Working 3-finger swype
  • Tons of new tweaks
  • Functional OTA

That's all I'll say for right now :D All I ask is that people don't ask here, or Twitter, or Facebook, or anywhere for that matter for ETA's. We will update you when we have updates for you and it also annoys the living **** out of me when people ask. So please, don't :D

And yes, the new base includes Android 4.04 and Sense 4.1.

I can't wait, hearing great things about the new OTA.

This and a release CM10 are pretty exciting.

Whatever it was fixed itself, later in the day it started working. Might have been tower issues.

hey guys quick question. What kind of battery life are you guys averaging running viper? I love viper for the quick and easy tweaks. But i just dont feel like im getting the battery time that i got with meanrom. I use my phone too much ill admit that lol but i was wondering what you guys were averaging?

I average about 10% drain per hour with screen on, about nothing with screen off.

uploadfromtaptalk1346800817674.jpg

That's over 7 hours of screen on.

If you go nuts and kill all activities, it draws about zero.
