Root Rom with iPhone UI

Anyone know if there is any difference between the RA 2.3 Wipe All and the Calkulin's format all?

Calk's FormatAll.zip does the same as a factory data reset, plus it wipes the /system partition which both Amon_Ra & ClockworkMod recoveries skip on a full wipe. In Clockwork (v2.6.0.1 the version I use) you can manually wipe the /system partition, I do not remember if Amon_Ra has that option or not.

Lmao...it was probably one of my posts. I have been searching for one forever. As was mentioned, MIUI is great. I had it for a few weeks and LOVED it. In some ways...it is superior to the iPhone interface. Also, when you get it, download a theme known as iPhone or something like that. You will have an exact iPhone 4 look alike. My friends were amazed and thought I had hacked it to run iOS lol! Today is bugged on me but I flashed a kernel to it so don't mind my review about it being buggy...it's a great ROM...one of my favorites.

How would one go about installing that stand alone apk?

carhauler199: Thanks for the info. RA's wipe all is labeled as "Wipe ALL userdata/factory reset". Perhaps it is just an all wipe of that type of data, userdata/factory. I think the title is misleading if so. There is indeed a seperate Wipe System option in RA.

ndh777: I have never owned an iPhone but I think it would make for a good conversation piece with all of my iphone buddies. I still have the default theme installed. I just did a search in the miui theme forum and got a bunch of hits. I think I'll try the Ultimate iPhone theme first.

Put the .apk file on your sd card, and then using any file explorer (one comes on miui, or astro works) you just open it up and install.

And the miui theming forum has lots of awesome themes. The one i have in my photos above is iNexus iPhone found here Theme iNexus_iPhone OS4_v1.1

Oh okay. I never owned an iPhone before either but had the iPod Touch 2nd Gen. so I was very familiar with the device interface. Pretty much all of the themes that are available for download through the ROM are free and can be changed at will. My friend was shocked because he has an iPhone 3G...he switched from a MyTouch 3G to that and now he wants to come back. It is a great topic starter! To me, it's one of the best ROMs that I've ever used because it also comes with new things for the phone like a better looking music app, more options, built in USB and Hotspot tethering via options, and so much more.

To tell you a little bit about my recent bug...
I flashed MIUI to my Evo about a month ago. When I first installed it, the screen started to flicker and it annoyed me. A user here told me to flash a kernel called "Ziggy's" which was supposed to reduce the flickering and it probably would have so I'm not going to say that it or he destroyed my phone and I've got it back to working too. Anyway, so I decided to not go with the ROM. A few weeks later, I decided to go ahead and upload it again and flash the kernel if the screen started to flicker. No flickering occurred when I reflashed the ROM. But to be on the safe side, I changed the animations to some animations. Every once in a while, the screen would flicker and make weird images on the phone like the phone had been stepped on but a quick reboot solved it. Then one day, I decided to try the Ziggy's because I heard it would also improve battery life. So I downloaded it to my phone from the phone's web browser and went into Recovery (Amon-Ra) and flashed the kernel. Once the kernel was flashed, I rebooted. Once I rebooted, my phone went to the lock screen of MIUI and asked me to unlock it. I tried to but nothing happened. My touch screen was unresponsive. I waited, rebooted, did everything possible. Still nothing happened. So I finally just decided to go with my backup that I did before I flashed the ROM. When I did that, it said that it couldn't restore the backup...so I tried again and again and still the same thing happened. So I tried other backups and they didn't work!!! I tried about 3 until finally, one worked.

I think someone here knows what I did wrong but that was my ONLY problem with the ROM. If that never happened...I'd still be using MIUI. I may go back soon as I heard they have a new update that really increased the features. But maybe not for a while.
 
I haven't had any issues with screen flickering. All in all, I have had a great experience with this rom. There's a lot of things that I like about it. My favorite little thing is the app draws you can create.

But I'm ready to move on. There are some things that I'm missing from my Sense. The biggest thing is calling my own number and having to press 1 to listen to my messages and 7 to delete. I feel like I was just zapped back in time every time I check my voicemail.

Another thing that after putting on the iPhone theme, it was cool for a couple of reboot to see the apple logo, I really started feeling like a traitor. :p

Next is gonna be MikZ the first opportunity I get tomorrow. My next asop rom will be cyanogen gb version. If I get that far.
 
There is an apk for the sprint visual voicemail if thats all you want, ill find it and post it up for you. Just install it like an apk. It worked perfect for me.
 
I've just noticed that when I try to reply to a post in the forum using miui, via both the default browser or firefox, that none of my typed text appears in the message box.

My phone is accepting the text because I can the spell checker filling in the letters that I'm typing but nothing appears. Very weird.
