Root [ROM][YACR] CM 7.1-Reppard

If I could just get this thing to stop rebooting. Is there a way to restore the kernel that the phone came with? I have been having reboot issues ever since I messed with the kernel. It happends mostly when I use google maps. I need the phone and it just randomly reboots when I need it most.

go to cyanogenmod settings and the performance menu and turn the cpu speed down to 600, then go up a notch at a time till it starts rebooting, then put it back one notch, that will be ur max.. note: not all Opt Ms can be overclocked,

I went back to joinedy sense rom because i can't get my usb to show on cm7. I installed the plaque kernel. I want to give it a try and see if it reboots. i need to keep it simple. this stuff is over my head.

usb does not connect w/plaque. I am back to sense rom r.o.c.k kernel and random reboots. I don't want to unroot but how hard is it for me to go back to the original kernel and rom the phone came with.

thanks

Have you tried this rom by itself, no plaque kenel? USB works. You should try a fresh flash of this rom and do a full wipe beforehand.

Anyone has issues with bluetooth connecting and disconnecting with the VW audio system? As soon as it connects, it will turn off bluetooth, and then on, and then off...

Do you mean cm7 or sense? Cm7 wont connect usb and wont charge with phone off. Sense rom w/rock kernel reboots when I use maps or metro nav. I even had a reboot today with phandroid. I have cpu master set to 600, 245 and it still reboots. How can I restore the factory kernel and rom? Thank u

The TeamChickeneater ROM is as close to actual stock as you can get, it's basically the "out of the box phone" minus the MetroPCS bloatware. I'm pretty sure it has a modded kernel though but you wouldn't have to OC if you didn't want to and the rom will still run smooth without the reboots.

I'm curious to know if you had the constant reboot issue before you rooted and started flashing roms? It may be an insulting question and if so I apologize but as you may or may not know some of the M's have this issue out of the box.

If you are having reboot issues with sense at 600mhz things are only going to be worse back on the stock rom. That phone sounds like it has hardware problems.

Here is instructions as requested, but I wouldn't go back to stock unless I was taking it to metro for replacement:

I never had a single reboot on stock rom. When I flashed repards CM7 I did have a reboot but I can't connect my USB and the phone does not charge when off. I travel allot and sometimes I need a quick charge.

I never had a single reboot even after I rooted the phone. The reboots began when I started messing with the kernel and rom When I flashed repards CM7 I did not have a reboot but I can't transfer files with the USB and the phone does not charge when off. I travel allot and sometimes I need a quick charge. Forgive me I am not tech savvy. I feel like I kinda screwed the pooch messing with the phone. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

Well with the last like 5 updates of this CM7 rom usb has been working... maybe you have an old copy?

And no CM7 rom will charge with the phone off. yeah it's a pain, look for a charger that is at least 1 amp, my phone charges completely with a 1 amp charger in just over an hour.

And if you had no reboots on a stock rom, then you must be missing something while installing the others. All other roms make my phone more stable than the stock one was, and I haven't had a single reboot since the last time I flashed, which was weeks ago...

Why don't you tell us in detail the process you are using to flash the rom? Maybe you have overlooked something...

Pardon my noobishness, but is it possible to use this rom with a phone that currently has 2.2.2? I haven't had any luck downgrading to 2.2.1, and figured I may just give this a shot.

Thanks.

If u can root it and flash a custom recovery and it boots in it correctly, then sure. Try it. Make no promises since to my knowledge it hasn't been tried

I boot into recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvic cache. Then I disable the signature verification thing. Then I flash the rom from my sd card. I partitioned this sd card and made the ext 2 to ext 3. I am using the links at the beginning of thread. Playful gods rom is a bit hard for me to understand. Reppards is the one I was using. I can try Bobz whatever. I just need to get it to recognize the usb and I the drivers installed. now I know these rom dont allow you to power off and charge. No problem but how do I fix the USB?

Thank You

Lawkev.. you may have a bad usb cable.. it happens.. if you have another usb cable of th same type.. try it to see if ti works.. also.. every once in a while.. Windows likes to "forget" that it has the drivers installed.. try reinstalling the usb drivers maybe?

Just wanted to say THANKS for all your hard work. I had some trouble in the beginning, but I finally got a custom rom on my LG Optimus M. I've tried Johnney's Sense, PlayfulGod's CM7(Didn't work...) and another CM7, which i fail to remember who made >.<. Your rom is the only one i could find that actually works. Only one bug i've had trouble fixing so far (The screen won't wake up thing). Any way you think i could fix it? I read on another forum that if you use a Live Wallpaper then it works. Ive heard about the "setting your min mhz to 248, but that didnt work when i tried it. Thanks for all your hard work!

I tried all of that.

I tried all of that.

There is a feature in recovery to turn on usb mass storage. I know it's a pain to boot to recovery to transfer a file but it should work without a hitch.

I would try flashing the other CM7 roms and see how they do...

It sounds like you are doing the flash in the proper steps.

When I boot into recovery i click USB-MS toggle. then i click usb-ms toggle sd card. it says enable and press menu to disable. I'm stuck here. I don't know what to do to transfer files. The removable disk does not show up.

thank you

Hmm, it should be showing up on the pc if you are connected with a USB cable and the phone is in mass storage mode.

I'm beginning to think the USB troubles you are having are more to do with your PC than your phone.

Is there any chance you have another PC at your disposal to install the lg drivers on and test USB?

I was on sense rom earlier today and everything with the usb was fine. Now I flash to reppards CM7 and no usb. I will try the other CM7s. I traveling tomorrow and I won't be near a PC. If I can't fix this tonight it will have to wait a few weeks until i get back. I'll just use reppards cm7 for now. it works great other than this issue. I won't dare to flash PG cm7. The installation seems complicated. Bobz looks easier but I don't want to mess anything up. I have another pc. I'll give it a shot.

Thanks

update:

I got it. I unstalled the drivers and re-installed.

@ Lawkev - had to comment because reading your earlier comments kept bringing me back to my time when I had constant rebooting issues. Im sure yours may be due to different than mine, but can relate to the frustrations. I finally got mine resolved and like a breath of fresh air, things just calmed down and to this day no real issues at all. Just wanted to say, hang in there - hopefully your rebooting issue has gotten resolved.

Also they have a great team here - very helpful and knowledgeable.
