Rom zero 1.0

now see that's odd. I used to have that problem but after upgrading and downgrading a few times I'm finally on ROM Zero with the OC kernel flashed to it and stagefright enabled. I could go above 768 before then now I can get 806 to work non-stop.

Mine runs fine at that setting. It only crashes if I run the stress test for more than 5 mins.
I say that but I keep it at 122/480 most of the time to conserve battery. I was just seeing what I could get out of it and I wouldnt be hesitant to run it at 864 all the time if it werent for the battery.

Edit: Yes I quoted myself lol.

When you say OC kernel you mean this one?

http://androidforums.com/2128117-post35.html

If not, lol let me know which your using.

The stagefright i'm guessin is this one?

http://androidforums.com/2129232-post44.html

I just tried 864 lol, froze, and stupid thing was set to set on boot, so had to use zero rom AGAIN to restore lol. God his rom saved my ass ahaha.

I also get some message about "signature verified", i have to disable in order for it to let me even install stagefright. Also, you guys doing a fresh reboot each time, or just installing one over the other?

Also another question, if we are clockin this high, would we somehow be able to trick adobe flash to work lol?

Theres a web browser that will play some of them but I havent tried it yet and I forget the name, Ill try and find it.

Right, because it says "ARM6 or ARM7" so, but i'm sure there's a way to make it think its using a different cpu set. Has to be a loop, because I know for a fact you can over clock gpu's on desktops/laptops with software to make it think it has more built in ram that it really does. For instance lol a glide wraping programing, makes a graphic card without glide think it has glide. Like games that req say 256 ram, you OC your integrated 64 ram to 256 lol. Technically it shouldn't work based on the "hardware" req. But thinking about this hard, i don't see why adobe did this. I use these like mini comps at work, and they probably clock 500 mhrz, yet they can run flash.

Basically we either need a work around, or some kind of software emulation to get this to work. lol wish i had the knowledge on how to do so.

Me too, This is my first real phone and its a blast playing with it. This may turn into a new hobby lol. My wife says I have way too many hobbies already but I tell her this is MUCH less expensive than my others.

LOL! Yeah, ever since i touched an android phone, been one helluva an experience. As a technician myself its hard to resist lol.

Okay I'm not really savvy with all of this and furthermore am not sure if anyone sees the relevance in me asking this (I hope some do!), but is there a FULL tutorial on how to achieve these goals? If not, would someone please please please write a TUT. I am still lost! I am not even sure how to go about identifying that I have modded my LG Optimus. As far as I know I am still running their stock Rom. Despite the fact that I ("think") I flashed with ROM 1.0 There's no way to determine that I have? Please would anyone of you quench my curiosities?

Sorry for double posting, but I installed everything in the order of ROM Zero 1.1 first, then the Thunderc_stagefright, then the signed thunderC and when i rebooted my touch screen didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure thunder C isn't the one made for Optimus S, that was the same mistake i made. What you'll have to do to get it back to near factory, is reflash it to rom zero 1.1.

again the correct thunder C for M is the BOTTOM link, don't even touch the top one:

http://androidforums.com/2128117-post35.html

here's a direct post of it just so you don't grab the wrong one:

signed_thunderc_metro_beta.zip

Notice how it says "metro" in it. Then after you install it, install stagefright. That should fix you.

You're welcome.

That's a tough one. Some people may want things others don't.

I'd personally say definitely:

MobilePosse.apk - MyExtras

SNS.apk - LG Facebook and Twitter app (The ones for download in Android Market are better and have more features)

UNO_DEMO_LG_MS690_EN_NONIGP_MetroPCs_TS_307.apk - UNO Game Demo

Email.apk - Email app (Gmail is already installed as well, but the Email.apk I believe allows you to setup email for providers that don't have their own separate apps)

As work on the new ROM progresses I wanted to weigh in on an issue. You may be aware that android does not natively support TIFF files. The technical reason is beyond me but suffice it to say that the code to generate the display is not built in to the system. There are a few programs in the market that do claim to be able to display them but the 2 I tried could not decode the Tiff files I threw at it.

Most of the better Brother MFC machines include fax to email, ftp to server, and some other features. We use the fax to email extensively as do many other businesses. The Brother machines only generate TIFF attachments to email.

When I integrated the LG Optimus this was the first feature tested after the exchange activesync piece which works way better then on or 6.5 Samsung Codes. Tiffs were displayed and I decided to move into these new phones.

After rooting and removing some bloatware I realized I could no longer display TIFF attachments. I have added back some bloat but haven't figured out which provided the feature. THe most obvious choices to me are myextras, boingo, and thinkfree. I have tried a few so far but from something AndyO70 said I believe the apk and odex need to placed back in the \system\app folder perhaps also with the correct permissions.

I will try to run through them all tomorrow but in the meantime if anyone knows of a way to include this ability in your new ROM that would be great. I would definately run a metropos app for the feature but this would not do for an AOSP rom...

Very glad to see your reputations restored I have to say it was eerily quiet around here yesterday. We all learned from the experience, but I do believe the moderators are doing a good job at promoting this board while protecting it from people who could bring it down. I have participated and lurked in boards since I first d/l 8-bit pics in 1982 from every local bbs on LI :D Those were the days and we have come a long way from the 300 baud modems I had to put the receiver of my phone into. The boards have changed and this board is few among many where all types of users can post without flames. (A mild if sarcastic reminder to RTFM or use search or look up 2 posts is not a flame IMHO)

Keep up the great work... I wish I could find more time to test but life keeps getting in the way (I do a damn good job avoiding it most of the time! Thanks to modern technology and medicine:eek:)

My initial thought would be ThinkFree. I haven't tried to view a TIFF file but i know that program allowed you to view various formats. I also had to dl an app to view animated gif files my friends would send me through mms. The only problem is I have to save the file as it doesn't pop up as an option in the message itself. Sucks Android doesn't natively support this.

Some of the "bloatware" removed was not bloatware. Like ThinkFree and Easy Wi-Fi. They added functionality! I tried to tell people that.

Go to the Metro app website and see if you can download and install again. Or is Metro App installer also removed as so-called bloatware?

Here was my list:
=============
OK, the ones I have bolded in black are the really annoying ones. :D There's EIGHT.
Apps safe to remove:

  • Boingo_Wi-Fi.apk - Boingo WiFi
  • Email.apk - Email app - (I'm using this one myself)
  • LG-MS690_MetroBackup_1.27_PRODBuild_10082010.apk - MetroBackup
  • LGMS690_MetroNavigator_4.9.1_Build_57_10222010_rel_signed_PROD.apk - MetroNavigator (I use the Google Maps Navigator myself, but I still left this one on my phone)
  • LGMS690_MetroPCS_EasyWiFi_V4.0.90.apk - EasyWiFi (useful, don't delete. Gives you free access to over 500,000 hotspots nationwide.)
  • Loopt_Android_2.4.1_Oct.13.2010.apk - Loopt (I hate this one, but someone else might like it. I have no need for anyone to know exactly where I am. If I want them to know, I will use my PHONE to tell them. :()
  • Metro411.apk - Metro411
  • metroappstore-v1.3a.apk - MetroPCS App Store (in case you want something back you deleted from this list...)
  • MobileBanking.apk - Mobile Banking
    [*]MobilePosse.apk - MyExtras
    [*]Mocospace-1.2.4.apk - Moco Space
  • MPCS-MobileIM-0.4.24.2.apk - MobileIM
  • MVC.MetroPCS.android02.apk - Virtual Card
  • PEX-3.1.1.1-metro-rc.apk - Pocket Express (I used it a couple of times, but decided I didn't need it and deleted it. However, it's not on my MUST DELETE list. ;) )
  • PGA_Android.apk - Games
[*]SNS.apk - LG Facebook and Twitter app
  • thinkdroid.apk - Think Free Office (potentially useful, don't delete)
  • UNO_DEMO_LG_MS690_EN_NONIGP_MetroPCs_TS_307.apk - UNO Game
  • z7-android2x.apk - Mail@Metro (someone might use their mail metro account?)

Wow! Here I'm thinking Android is a Google thing and they practically own the world now but to not even be able to handle something as common as an animated gif? That's just unacceptable.

Not only that but this is a widespread issue that Google must ignore entirely because the demand for it is there but still either non functional or only partially functional.

Look at this link:Issue 3422 - android - Animated GIF not working in browser - Project Hosting on Google Code

People have been on them since July of 2009 and still this is an issue.

I can confirm that my phone will properly display animated gifs in the default browser. No one has every sent me a picture text with one in it so I have no idea if that works.

Hi easy day. Well I just wanted to talk about some things. First being flash 10.1 it is not and will probably not be supported on these phones by metro/adobe but...... it is possible to get it as I had it on my sprint hero. Only thing is it's going to be slow even on wifi, but really slow on metros network (cough cough get an optimus v on the first, cough cough better data speeds).
I'm planning on making a batch installer to remove and restore apks (apps if you don't know now you know) I'm going to let a few people test it out for me if they want before it becomes public. That way I'll be sure that it's working good.
I don't know about the tiff file thing it's not really that high on my list right now. Sorriez but it could happen.

I know I'm being direct but I'm tired as hell. I used all my funny on twitter and I wanna dev

Welcome back,

Note:
First, I would like to explain certain things on the android system. Some of these apks use shared id signatures. Saying that, each shared id'ed apk as a group, would have to either be signed with or contain the same key to work. The location of the preference to use shared id's is written on the androidmanifest.xml of each apk. Also, the dalvik cache must be erased since they were originally recorded with the previous shared id.

Kudos

I'm not sure where your coming or going with this???? But trust me I know all about the shared uid. I studied them for a drunken week and a sober night before and while I wrote my first app and batch to sign apks with a release key. It's on xda somewhere.
