Root [ROM] ZV4 updated stock ROM

Can anyone on Virgin Mobile confirm if updating to V4 gets rid of the time without a signal / searching bug many of us have been experiencing? (System / battery monitor shows excessive battery drain from signal searching even when phone is in full coverage)?

well my phone is a bit of a brick.
not sure exactly what happened; play store said a billion things needed updated so i said of and started getting ready for my day and when i came back i had notices saying gsm and other stuff stopped working so i restarted my phone and it went bootloop.

so i got back into fastboot and loaded recovery. it wont let me re flash the rom it gives status 7.

im going to try reactivating download mode and see if i can recover that way.

EDIT: dand the LS740ZV3_17.33030_Secure.zip file is taking forever to download. hurry so i can unbrick my phone.

What exactly did the error say besides status 7?
And for those of you that tried flashing radio.img from fastboot, what did it say? And can you update your prl/profile? I think it's odd because I can't now that I've upgraded.

I didn't get any errors when i flashed the radio file, I can't remember exactly but i believe it said it downloaded the .img and showed the size it bytes and then brought me back to the c:/phone directory where i had extracted the .img from the v4 update zip as well as where i placed the cwma1.img, it was late but i am pretty sure it confirmed the flash as successful but i don't remember exactly. I just checked and i can update both prl and profile just fine but before i switched to v4 from v3 i couldn't update either of them. I'm curious now if i downloaded the v4 zip from LG's open source website and extracted the radio file from that version (stock) and flashed it what would happen? The v4 kernel is there too, is that baked into our fastboot version?
 
Back on ZV4 and seems way smoother now; to be honest the non branded ZV3 was smoother than the boost bloat version was even after it was debloadted. I think that that helped everything just run smoother.

Just to let you guys know, this ROM is based on the stock boost ROM with zv4 flashed over it. I'm wondering if the non carrier ROM with zv4 would be any different.
 
I was running the stock zv4 from LG before i moved up to the zv4. I have a boost phone and when i switched to the stock ROM i noticed it was much lighter and there was barely any bloat to sort through, definitely didn't take long to setup and freeze/uninstall the stuff i knew i wouldn't use or need. If there is a way to try it i would like to
 
Well all I did to create this ROM was flash a fresh, stock zv3 on my phone, removed the security from the zv4 update, then flashed that over. You could do it too, not hard to learn.
 
What i find interesting is when i first did it coming from boost zv3 it retained the boost boot & shutdown animations.
But when i did it from the lg zv3 it retained the lg boot/shutdown and sounds.
 
Do you use kitchen sink? How do i remove the security? Id be happy to learn build one with the apps and settings i use and theme it etc... I have linux background so it's something that would be really cool to try @donjuro
 
I use ArchiKitchen, and it's not security per say, but inside the update in the updater script it checks to see if you have a specific phone, in the script it's called the x5 for some reason and it detects the phone as lg ls740zv3. You just delete those few lines. The rest of the script checks to make sure you have each of those apps it tries to update which is why I had to reinstall a fresh copy, I had already debloated my phone. Make sure to always make a backup before flashing anything.

X5 is just lg's kinda code for the handset hardware/model. The l90 variants are w7, w7s. Just some random FYI.

Huh...I just straight factory reset my phone and installed the ROM...I was debloated and all that. Everything that I had removed was back. Maybe that's why it didn't update the radio?

Phone seems to be working fine though, and the update for connections optimizer came through the other day.

It seems to be having trouble switching between mobile data modes though...which was happening before updating.

I can update my PRL & profile...at least it says it went fine. Not sure how to tell if it actually did anything if there wasn't anything to update.

Just tried flashing the radio with fastboot and it failed...

Tonight i am going to begin work on my 1st ROM. I am going to base it from the LG generic ZV4 ROM from their Open Source website, I'll include the new v4 kernel as well. I'll set it up the same way as i have my phone now but I'll include as many tools as possible so people can tweak it to their liking. It will take me a few days to finish it but I'm pretty excited. I'll beta test it myself unless others want to help but it will need to be flashed using our fastboot method with cwm. It will be community as well so we can put out some pretty sweet results. Wish me luck!
 
I've used this rom now it won't let me run the sd card write fix, does anyone else have this issue? Prior to this I used a program to patch it to where I could write to my external sd card, now it won't do it, just says failed.


*Nevermind I didn't realize I had to re-root the phone that was the issue, I thought it came pre-rooted.
 
Just checking in and saying my phone is running way better than ever for the most part.
The only issue im having is sometimes coming off WiFi it takes a while before going back to mobile data but most of the time no issues at all with data hand off even between 3g & 4g.

Interesting, I just tried it and it first did the hands free activation, then did a PRL update and rebooted. When updating the PRL through settings it never rebooted. Still on the same PRL though...33031. Is that what everyone else has?
 
Hello Ive been trying to get this done and Ive had no luck. I have a pc for another hour. Is there anyone who would be willing to do team viewer with me, please? I wont have accesss to a computer for awhile! If not its cool. Ill keep trying!
