Root [ROM] ZV4 updated stock ROM

I have tried that recovery and no luck with the radio as well (baseband unknown). Hopefully I'm doing something wrong and its an easy fix. I am using Flashify to flash that version of CWM on.

I just flashed this yesterday with cwm installed via flashify with no problems. Someone else was seemingly having problems with cwm as well. Have you tried doing it the old way with fastboot?

Ok let me ask one question my phone is at zv4 and I want to root it. My 32 gb sd card has 2300 songs on it, so partitioning it would wipe them out. So here is the question I have a 16 GB spare that I can use. Do I have to leave the 16 GB in after I downgrade zv3 and root or can I put the 32 GB back in with all my songs still on it?

You do not have to partition for root or downgrade.
Partition is used if you want to use your sd as part of internal storage.
It is best to remove or backup your sd if it has data you dont want to lose.

Getting "baseband version: Unknown" when I flash this...what am I doing wrong? I flashed the rom zip then the radio...tried it a few times now on different recovery and it happens every time so I downgrade with the lg flash tool then try again, can someone help?

Only plain CWM works at the moment. Not twrp or Phil's or cwm touch.

id really love to see a full philz touch recovery with SD partitioning etc....

also do you have an ETA on the new V4?

maybe a kernel with voltage control too? :)

I meant in recovery. My Samsung philz could flash a app partition directly from recovery mode. We need another port in

The kernel has to be flashed separately as well. Just pull the boot.img from the ROM zip and install it with Flashify.

i had a problem with my kernel initially flashing. i made a backup of the V4 once i flashed it and used the advance restore and system.

nowww im just screwing around with my old 16 gb card before i get my 32 and really have some fun

You know what I never installed the kernel.

I never installed the kernel either. The ROM and radio seem to work fine with the ZV3 kernel.

Is there any clear benefit from updating to the ZV4 kernel? I was worried that if I updated the kernel and then somehow lost root, then I'd have to start from scratch and roll back the entire ROM to ZV3 to regain root. Not sure if losing root is a legit concern, but sticking with the ZV3 kernel may be a more "cautious" approach.

If you were to lose root, you should be able to get it back with towelroot... And really, as long as you have a custom recovery, you can reinstall this ROM without losing data.

Are you sure about the first part? I thought towelroot would not work with the ZV4 kernel.

Good point about the recovery though, thanks.

Honestly, I can't say 100% as I don't think that scenario has come up, but people have been able to install this, forgetting to install superuser at the same time, find it doesn't have root active, yet still be able to root with towelroot. Seems reasonable to think that if you were to lose root for some reason, you'd be able to restore it with towelroot since the system had already been modified, but the recovery method is surefire.

It is not normal for wifi to keep turning on by itself if that is what you are experiencing. I am not sure what might be causing it. All I can suggest is perform a full wipe in recovery before flashing new ROMS just because dirty flashing may cause some strange issues.
