You do not need to be a king. Try voting.
People seem to think there is no hope for America; that what we have is what we will always have. BS, I call Shenanigans. Do not think for one minute the vote is not all powerful. Voting will remove bad politicians and no amount of PAC money will let them keep their jobs.
The problem is not stupid officials, it is a ignorant populace.
Amen! One of the most accurate and absolutely correct statements regarding elections and their consequences. One of the clearest examples of this is Illinois, the most corrupt state in the country (sorry, New Jersey and Louisiana). Time and space don't permit going into the tons of details, but search the
Chicago Tribune's editorials for stories on IL. House Speaker Mike Madigan, the unions, pensions, and similar topics, and you will find how the voters of this state keep getting screwed big time. The voters whine and bitch and scream, but guess what? They vote back in the same damn fools, because they're too stupid to put aside partisanship, union scare tactics, etc. (Note: In Illinois, there really isn't much of a difference between the two parties.)
(Four Illinois governors in the last 40 years have gone to jail: two Democrats and two Republicans. The Chicago City Council, the largest city council of any major city in the U.S. at 50 members called aldermen, has had 27 of them go to jail. That's over
half. Unbelievable.)
And don't get me started about a certain voting bloc, a minority group that keeps electing/re-electing persons who vote to hurt said minority group but win anyway solely because they're of the same group. Makes no sense at all. An IL. House Democrat is indicted on bribery--there are audio recordings revealing his bribery--and he STILL gets 72% of the vote in the Democratic Primary?!? Of course, what do his fellow House members, chief among them his fellow Democrats, do? Why, they decide they should vote to expel him from the House only now--when it's too late to hold a special primary. Instead, party leaders get to select his replacement on the November ballot, ensuring that they will have a winnable nominee.
To call this state a sewer is an insult to sewers everywhere.
