Root [ROMs Froyo] Upgrade your Xperia X8 to Froyo 2.2

hi gabeyong i really really aprreciate your tutorial.. i managed to install floyo on my X8 but i have a problem with the camera.. when im taking picture it oly apears black screen.. and also to gallery 3D and music player.. they dont even detect my pictures and musi.. what should i do?
 
Hi, I installed the Froyo as per your detailed instructions and reached the Google registration stage. But there I am unable to get a signal from my carrier (Airtel/India) and hence am not able to complete the installation process. When I restore/reboot with the 2.1.1 I get signal. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Your phone is locked to Airtel/India?

If it is locked to Airtel network carrier you have to unlock to any network before you can install Custom ROMs

Hi, no it is not locked to the carrier. Just that I cant seem to get the connection to register a Google account and launch Froyo.Is there any way around it? Thanks

A couple of things to check...

1) go to <settings><wireless & network networks><Access Point Names> check if Airtel's APN for internet and MMS is present.

e.g. if you are on the Orange you will see -->
Orange UK [APN=orangeinternet]
Orange MMS [APN=orangemms]

If not to add APN --> go to <settings><wireless & network networks><Access Point Names> click the menu button [i.e. the left hardware button on your Xperia X8] and add your network APNs - if you don't know what your network APN is then give the network a call and ask.

Did you remember to enable your data networks?
2) go to <settings><wireless & network networks>and select <data enable>

Hi, I have checked both and the APNs as well as the data enable are there. In any case, I shall try to install once more to see if the problems still persist. Thanks a lot & I shall report back.

Hi gabeyong, followed your instructions carefully in upgrading my x8 to floyo 2.2.1, and its flawless. My phone works perfectly after the reboot. I'll probably never go back to its official 2.1.1 firmware.

what MD5 mismatch means ? ... i am doing... xrecovery - backup and restore - restore - floyo 0.20 ..... and it doesn't do anything... i am bored :D

Hi to all and thanks for doing this. I have a little bit problem with this. Iv done everything you said and after i restore froyo i press reboot. After that problems start because my phone doesn't want start. All he do is sony erricson and hack droid repeatably. Please help me if you understand my problem

Hi,

Boot loop repeatedly means that your phone's baseband ends with 006.
You need to flash the new updated baseband that ends with 015.

go to racht's post and download X10 flasher and the baseband 015 and flash your phone to the new baseband.

Take the new baseband and flasher from my server here(i downloaded that one)
And now i need help how to flash on that baseband. Please if it isn't a problem for you to make steps as im newbie at this. Phone is rooted and all i need to flash baseband and after that i should be able to use froyo so please can you help me.

Yes, just flash the baseband and you are good to go!
If you get stuck just search youtube for videos.

I did all he said. Pluged device, pressed flash, chose baseband 15, unpluge device when asked,turn of device,pressed back button(hold) and plugged again but after that in flash program all it says start flashing and holding on that

Hi,

flashing the baseband doesn't flash the xRecovery app.
check <settings><about phone> check if baseband now ends with 015
then Root then install xRecovery.

Did you check your baseband before you install custom ROM?
I think your baseband ends with 006 that is why you are stuck on Hackdroid logo.

you need to upgrade to baseband that ends with 015 to install Hackdroid ROMs. go to racht's post and download the flash + baseband and flash you phone to baseband 015. and do all the steps over again.

simi clock widget has a battery indicator...

bro currenty i am usin gingerfroyo 1.14.6 rom...can i install this froyo directly r should i move back to 2.1 stock n thn install ths....
