Root roms stuck at boot animation

I've been having a lot of trouble with flashing roms since getting my phone replaced please help. At the store the sprint people performed the ota update on my EVO ,I used the HTC dev unlock method instead of the lazy panda to unlock the boot loader if that makes a difference. The problem is that every Rom I flash ( except viper 1.2 ) stays at the boot animation I'm always sure to format -system -cache -dalvik -factory reset, before flash. ( I did have some luck with viper2.2 but once rebooted it got stuck) thanks guys

did you flash an aosp rom? what roms have you tried?

not sure but you most likely will need to flash the boot.img to get the correct kernel flashed. please read this: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-s-h-boot-1-15-a.html

with s-on and unlocked the boot.img will not get flashed with the rom. this is where the kernel lies in. so you will need to fastboot command it in.

I've tryed miui and viper ,that sounds like what it probably is thank you

ok that is your issue then. with s-on the kernel does not get flshed when flashing roms. it stays on the boot.img partition. so if you were previously on a sense rom(viper) then flash miui(aosp), now you have conflicting rom and kernel combo. you will have the sense kernel from viper running on an aosp rom with miui. this will not work and thus your phone will not boot up.

whatever rom you just flashed you will need to pull the boot.img file from the .zip file you downloaded and fastboot command into the phone. the guide i linked you to earlier will explain how to do this.

hope this makes sense and clears things up for you.
