Root [ROOT] 2.3.6 Update

Hey kagebeast its me again.I don't know if you remember me. You helped me with something a couple weeks ago.I wanted to ask you if I should upgrade to this 2.3.6. Right now Im running OA 2.3. Or should I leave it how it is right now.

With the rooting your admire stuff yeah i remember. And just stick with oa 2.3. The update isn't anything special just a nicer call screen and the new lockscreen and some extra system stuff. But all in all it's still stock. I think oa 2.3 is much better than the upgrade. I mean you can flash it to test it out but just make a backup of your oa rom now so you don't have to go through the process of setting up your phone again.
 
Maybe I'm just stupid, but I've tried all the things and I can't seem to root my phone with then new update. Root Check says it's rooted and Superuser says Root Browser has permission but I can't delete any of the bloatware.
When I try to delete something it says deleted but the file is still there. Mostly it's the MyXtras app I want gone, I can live with the other crap but I want that gone.

Is there something else I can do to have the update and root? I really like being able to send MMS again.

Just use root explorer to go into /system/app and delete the apps from there
 
I installed Root Explorer. It claims the phone is not rooted. yet Root Checker says it is. Some root apps work while others do not.
Root Explorer and Root Browser do not work.
Screenshot works.
SD-Booster works.
No-Frills CPU Tuner works.
Volume+ Free works.
 
I had the same problem. Be sure the update-root.zip file flashed correctly in cwm. I had to 're-update to 2.3.6 and start fresh a few times. Also, after I successfully flashed the zip and superuser was visible in the app drawer, I installed busybox free from the play store to update busybox. After that, all the root functionality worked fine. Hope this helps you out some.

Aden, I had this problem too with Titanium Backup when I was trying to remove the bloatware. I kept getting that same error. I even installed Root Explorer and Root Checker Lite but neither one worked. The Root Checker would say the phone was rooted but still no access.

For some strange reason, I noticed that after I charged my battery up, it started working and I haven
 
I had the exact same thing happening to me. After numerous attempts I factory restored downloaded just superuser and root checker, did the above steps and it worked.
 
ya forealz, i guess im not gonna upgrade, 2.3.4 is running perfect and smooth on this overclocked monster 5, most of the other roms are buggie but 2.3.6 isnt really a big wow from 3.4 so why risk it running slightly diff with minor bugs. keep up the good work devs, we appreciate you. :)

hey guys, I need your help
I just root my android, first installing cwm with odin, all ok
and then just like to said this post, and ok, the icon of superuser appears

my admire start normally, but when i try to use any app with internet, like playstore, facebook, gtalk, maps or anything, just don't connect it, my internet doesn't works, except the browser, in the browser i can surf and stuff, with wifi, but in any app don't.

what did i do wrong?

Help me please :(

this doesnt necessarily mean it was caused by rooting. it could just be the network being what it does best. thats metro for ya. i myself have experienced this after rooting but the problem goes away when i wait for a bit and reboot the phone.

alternately i guess you could go into the manage apps lists and clear the data for google services framework and the playstore, then go into accounts and sync and uncheck everything and then reboot. go to accounts and setting and recheck what you previously had checked.

Yeah dude, I just try it and works, in the first reboot, facebook worked ok, but not the anothers services like playstore, maps, g+, etc.

But i tried end the process of "Google Services" in the "Running" manage, and clear the data of "google services framework" and then all its ok (without reboot it)

I don't know what's wrong with it. The last time I had to do a factory reset, but with this tip not anymore, Thank you so much, you saved me to reinstall all the apps and settings every time.
(And if you know a way to fix this issue definitly, i shall thank you for the rest of my life) jejeje
 
i have 2.3.6 already..is there a way to root my admire without having CWM? right now its on stock android. is there a one click root for 2.3.6? i saw the one click root sticky but im not sure if thats gonna work for 2.3.6 please help

there is no one click root. you have to have cwm in order to root 2.3.6. if it bothers you so much having cwm then just root it and then download and flash this: http://androidforums.com/vitality-a...load-stock-recovery-module-cwm-flash-zip.html
