Root [ROOT] 2.3.6 Update

Well if you flashed a rom you wouldnt need to root because most roms are already rooted anyways. When you first buy a phone you're automatically running a stock rom meaning the rom that came with the phone, but there are custom rom's based from that stock rom that have customizations in terms of how it looks, data speeds, what's installed and what's not and so on.

Oh okay, Cool! Sorry I am very new to this. I have had my phone for almost a year actually maybe even longer. I have found with the update though to 2.3.6 my phones memory has changed loads. So first I would need to get CWM on my phone and then follow the directions at the beginning of this post? How do I go about putting the cwm on my phone?

I tested the root with Terminal Emulator and Root checker and they confirmed good root. Only when I try to run Busy Box, TIBU it claims my phone's not rooted.
 
Yo pg howcome u neva did an admire rom I remeber wen I had the ascend if it wasnt for u and dat raaaaw cm7 u did for it and folks from here I woodnt know anything

To boot into cwm, power off device then hold volume down and the back button then power on device while holding onto the mentioned keys/buttons then until you see the Samsung logo say "Samsung WWW.Samsung. com" let go off the mentioned keys and you should be in it...

Or it could be that you don't have cwm installed
 
OMG.....I thought the process was going to take forever, to get all this working again...Holy jeezzzz lol I thought I ever bricked my phone. It sutck at the Android Screen.

So, I took a few calm breaths after a couple weeks of trying to figure out why I lost data. My Stock ++ 2.3.4 auto updated to Metro 2.3.6. So, I reinstalled Odin the traditional way (Putting the tar file in One Piece, instead of PDA) and used my old 2.3.4 tar file. Once I got odin working (verison 5.0.2.7) I just flashed what Playfulgod provided in the OP, and wham bam...I am working once again!

uninstalled tibu, re-applied odin, re-applied root, nothing works, this is a stock 2.3.6 admire from metro, and root checker shows that it is not rooted after doing this method, please get back with me either in PM or here on how to remedy this so that I may root my phone. Thanks all

What do you mean you re-applied Odin?
 
PLEASE I NEED HELP!

im doing everything correctly , I think but these are the steps I did it.

1. I installed the zip and extracted it.
2. I plugged my phone in and enter usb storage mode (I believing debugging is on)
3. I moved the folder into my phone, the folder was Admire-2.3.6-Root
4.i turned my phone off and booted into the cwm
5. I saw INSTALL ZIP FROM SD and pressed it.
6. Then I pressed CHOOSE ZIP FROM SD CARD
7. The first 1 was Admire-2.3.6-Root so I pressed it.

and I guess im stuck there because everything I press wont do any changes.

Well I don't know about extracting it but after you download the zip don't extract anything just put it directly on your sd card and then you just install the zip
 
DO i have to use a specific kernel? I was running 2.3.6 but rooted and wound up with 2.3.5. I am on Verizon and have a Samsung stratosphere.... Will this room work for me? I'm new to this but am catching on quick. Lol
