Root root=3g terible speeds

I get terrible 3g speeds of .16 when rooted. Sometimes it won't even load. So I unrooted and get 2m down. Rooted again just to be sure and get terrible 3g, what's the deal?

No problem here. Didn't do a Speedtest prior to rooting, but just ran it and got download of just under 2MB/sec. This with only two bars of signal.

No 4G-LTE here yet.

im going to try again tonight but affraid of the outcome. mine was slower then dialup while rooted. does not make a lot of sense to me. i ran the speed test ap, then usb usb from phone to computer for internet and the speeds were still bougs .01-.05 something crazy. couldnt browse it was like loading pages with dial up and im in amazing 3g area always good service and dont mater what time of the day so its not network exhaustion.

I'm not sure what's going on with your phone. I'm rooted and use Android Tether (hotspot) in 3g often and I average >1.5. I just installed Adryn's 1.9 kernal as my only new change today, still pulling same speeds. We haven't been able to play with the radio yet. Like I said, I don't know why you're having issues. Rooting isn't the problem. Don't give up.

unless it just so happens that the 3g decides to run like shit when I'm going between the two idk. I'm just trying to figure out if maybe something is up with my phone as the 3g seems hit and miss now. just weird that it gets worse rooted, I cant explain why mines doing it but I can see with my own eyes that it is lol.

HTCThunderbolt yes i did try a kernel or two out, did not seem to change anything.

on a side note i took it to verizon and the lady said thunderbolts are having known 3g issues and that i have to wait and if its still being crapy they might try and replace the phone. i did notice today that i was doping 3g a lot with full bars in high signal 3g areas. i love the phone, just want to get the 3g figured out because 4g is not hear yet.

i think that only effects users with >2 posts i know i barely made it past that

FYI rooting has nothing to do with the radio as previously stated
Bwahahahaahaha!!! ive had no problems with my 4g speeds after rooting or 3g where i dont get 4g...i think its wat he said ^^^

Thank you for your useless posts. I don't care what you two say root is clearly effecting my 3g as a got the same results tonight. But thanks famouzstarz for your useless opinion.

The post might not have been the nicest, but they are in fact true. Rooting doesn't effect your radio at all, you can indeed change the baseband. However you would have to flash a new one, and there isn't one out yet.

Rooting can not effect your 3G, if you are seeing a drop in 3G after you root then something else is causing it, and it is a coincidence.

There's been a lot of 3G/4G issues recently.

Verizon has been hit hard with the iPhone on the 3G side, and the Thunderbolt sucking all the 4G goodness.

It only effected me for a day or two losing my 3G signal, 4G not gonna be here for another couple few months, but others were effected more so.

I'd say if it's been going on for more than a few days, I'd take the phone back and exchange it. Unrooting it first of course.. Can't hurt to try a new one.. Maybe you just got a crappy radio when the HTC Oompa Loompa's were assembling it.

I haven't noticed any signal changes since rooting.
