So, now that we have root, what apps should I buy/install to take full advantage of this? I had my DX rooted before, but that was just for tethering at school to bypass the devil that is WebSense.
AutoRuns - is a startup manager, shows you all apps and what triggers them to turn on (ie: After Start, Media button press, Connectivity Change, Account Change, etc). Its interesting to see WHY that app you killed keeps turning back on. This is the app I use and makes a big difference.
Titanium Backup - Freeze, remove, clear davlik cache, backup apps, n more.
DroidWall - If your looking to limit your data usage, this is a great app that blocks app specific levels od data (wifi or mobile)
AutoKiller Memory Optimizer - Adjust the internal memory management, NOT a task killer (but it has a manual one built in), set it and forget it basically. Also has some optimization tweaks.
RootExplorer - Every Rooters tool, file manager galore.
SetCPU - Once a kernel that supports it comes out. I've tested in the last 24hrs, and it doesn't actually work (check with another cpu monitor, you'll see)
WirelessTether - Only if you care about using your data plan with your PC, I dont bother, but seems to have worked when I tested it for a minute.
ExtendedControls - Root gives this tool more power, specifically rebooting on click, or reboot to recovery (not useful just yet),
QuickBoot - Quick access to reboot, just this function (3 types or reboot).
ShootMe - Great root app to take screenshots and save to PNG or JPG.
