Root Root & custom recovery WITHOUT oem unlock & wipe

Has anyone else tried this? I really do want to root the phone (and not have to wipe it) so I can push the ringtones and notification tones onto the phone since it fixes the random tone changes.

And great find too.
 
I was wanting to try this but I want the bootloader unlocked as well. I'm probably just going to unlock the bootloader and root the original way.
 
I did this method of rooting. Can I move my ringtones into the system's ringtones folder? Cuz it still wont let me even though I can see the root folders now.
 
They fixed this security whole in 2.3.3, is there any other way to get a full app data backup other than rooting? And if not, is there any other way to root without unlocking the bootloader (which wipes all your data, internal and sdcard)?
 
I have looked but have not found a method to rooting 2.3.3 without unlocking the bootloader.
