App still shows in all apps and wont let me remove it

any ideas????

thx!!

I am not familiar with z4root other than it only gives you temporary root. Have you rebooted the phone to see if the app is still there?

On the rooting note, might I suggest you read the Rooting for Dummies guide at the top of the forum? Permanent root is so much easier to deal with in my opinion.

was it mounted as r/w? Won't a reboot unroot his phone xtreme? z4 is just temporary, a reboot removes it. So if your not done hold off on the reboot. I use root installer to remove pesky apps sometimes. It'll back up too.

It may remove the root as it is temporary. If he was just trying to get rid of the app, it might show up now because he hadn't rebooted the phone and it was loaded originally. A reboot should erase that and reload the apps he has minus that one.

Lol I guess that's the punishment for the lazy method. actually permanent only takes like 10 more minutes

There are two parts to what we refer two as root. A rooted ROM allows you to run apps as the root user. This is what you're doing when you use titanium backup. The second part is to unlock nand. That simply means you're turning off security on some of the internal partitions so that you can write to them. You're able to make it looks like you're removing the app only because you're the root user. Since you didn't unlock nand, it didn't really remove anything. You need S-OFF before you can make changes to the system partition. Some phones come this way, others don't. The Evo comes with S-ON, so z4root is temporary. If you root using unrevoked, it will root your ROM and unlock nand. Not only will you be able to make changes to the system partition (uninstall bloatware), but you won't need z4root, as unrevoked does the same thing as part of the process.
