Root Root for Fierce 2?

Wow! Still no root??? I've thought of you guys. I think I'm going to sell this thing soon. My friend had an LG with larger screen (like fierce 2), but the screen had a crack, else I would've bought it!

Almost wish it was a MTK device instead. You wouldn't need to worry about waiting for an exploit for root. MTK-flashtools and SP-flashtools is all you would need.. Noooooo... We have the Qualcomm chip.

I tried to pay for a HOTSPOT from Metro PCS. The phone won't accept it (and they've tried to charge me twice).

It doesn't accept my usb to transfer media from my computer now.

When I dial *611, it won't even call Customer Care!!!! When I dial Metro's 888 number, same thing!!!

I'm selling it today and going with an entirely new company. I need Mexico calling so it will probably be At&t! TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK!!!

Thanks you to everyone for your help and suggestions, but no need to offer anything this time. I've had it with this trash they're calling a phone!

Its annoying when people do this stuff. All we can say is bye and don't let the door hit his your ass on the way out.

Just cause you can't work a phone properly doesn't mean its carrier related. Go to a more expensive carrier....that's how you do it, yea, problem solved. (Cough) maybe you can get an iPhone cause ALL ANDROIDS ARE CHEAP!!!!!!! And when you break the iPhone, don't go to a forum and complain about it, do it on your Facebook so maybe someone will care

To tell the truth this really isnt a very good phone. Mostly because the software is poorly designed. But with that said, this definitely isnt the place to rant and rave about it. That isn't why this forum is here. Its here for prople to give and recieve help, and to provide people with useful information about how to get more out of the devices they already have, not for trash talking.

PS: If you are able to disable the My Metro app, you will be able to call customer care without having to jump through hoops to do so. The My Metro app is designed to keep you from calling them over the phone because it costs them more money for you to talk to a live person.

I haven't really had issues. Sure it isn't up to par with the big manufactures, its a decent phone for the price. As for ranting, I was replying to your rant of saying good bye and trash talking a cheap phone you bought for $50 and expected it to run like a Samsung you buy out right for about $600. The term "you get what you pay for" comes to mind.

Coming from sprint, metro is a lot better. Changing carriers isn't gonna help your issues either, probably make it worse. No business cares for the customer, just what's in your wallet and what they can bleed from you.

I wasnt saying anything against you. I actually agree with what you said. Notice i quoted what Ahansome said and liked your post.

With that said, although some companies will help you with unlocking your bootloader and some other root related issues, in exchange for you giving them the serial number and voiding your warranty, Alcatel One Touch is not one of those companies. Although I no longer have a Fierce 2 I did contact the manufacturer to see if they could offer some assistance and they took weeks to reply and wouldnt give me any information about unlocking the bootloader or anything related to modifying the device. If you want to get a working custom recovery and root method, your two best bets are to reach out to Chainfire( the dev responsible for SuperSU and CF auto root), and the Official Unvolved Devices Hit Squad(OUDHS) who can be found in the developer forums. Also if you know of any other devs who may be willing to show this phone some love it wouldnt hurt to contact them too.

I'm just going by emails lol, not sure who was who I was replying to.

I'd still wouldn't root this phone if they're was root anyway. Bricked 2 metro phones before this one trying xposed and hate they're is no way of using Odin to go back.

Last phone on sprint was s4, so yea fierce 2 is no beast compared, but for the price isn't all to bad.

Like I said, root would give this phone a lot of potential. It really isn't that bad of a phone. I came from an LG L9. This phone to me is much better.

I called Alcatel customer service and ask them if I can get the unlock code for the bootloader in exchange for voiding my warranty. They said they don't give out that kind of information. It's my phone. What do they care?

I know right - it's like they believe in some mythical petty kingdom or something - I don't know. I don't get it.

Besides - carriers typically don't even have bootloader keys in the first place. Manufacturers give their service departments the tools to wipe and re-image phones but that's often just a piece of software that only does that.

But - they do have the power to lock down the manufacturers in their contracts to not give out the goods - Verizon is especially famous for that, quite often AT&T as well.

I agree - make unlocking the bootloader non-obvious for the masses (why people will erase their phones but not their C drive at home and wonder what went wrong with the phone escape me, but they exist) - and give the rest of us the freedom to do self-maintenance.

Unlike the other popular operating system, rooting an Android doesn't automatically eject you from the ecosystem and it's not a gateway to cracking DRM. But they all either lump is in with them or just hang on like control freaks.

No puppies, kittens, babies or carriers have ever been harmed in all the time I've tinkered with my phones.

And not everyone is made out of money. I don't see why bootloader support goes down along with phone price. That's the most ridiculous thing about all this.

It's all of us on a budget that cares about servicing our own stuff to get the best performance and bang for the buck that matter. It's like I want to scream, "Hey carriers, want to lower your service costs and get more customers? Let us manage our own property!"

Lol - I guess y'all know what I mean even if I can't say it well.

Meanwhile let me change the subject just a little - right or wrong, everyone has a right to their opinions.

If someone has an opinion that makes y'all crazy, please let us help - tap the report button or drop us (or just me, it's all good) a line and we'll help clean up or sort out ok. No need to let words get any of us hot under the collar lol. That's no fun.

Like my sig kinda sorta says, we're all in this together. ;) :)
