Root for Huawei Ascend Y H866C

IT'S just like The M865c hold volume up volume down at the same time while holding down the power button name the recovery update.app changing the img to app make a folder name it Dload place the renamed recovery in that folder put it on the root of your SD card

you can actually send commands to the recovery.

* The arguments which may be supplied in the recovery.command file: * --send_intent=anystri ng - write the text out to recovery.intent * --update_package=path - verify install an OTA package file * --wipe_data -erase user data (and cache), then reboot * --wipe_cache -wipe cache (but not user data), then reboot * --set_encrypted_files ystem=on|off -enables / diasables encrypted fs

Those are the commands you can use according to the one I found but that might be different for modded files. So using adb you can do this:

adb shell recovery --wipe_data

Thats what he needs to be able to recover his phone. Is there a dload available for this device?

Now far as trying to unlock the bootloader on this device, you all need to contact one of the devs thats known to be skilled at doing it on XDA or RootzWIki. And if none of them want to mess with then you all will need to find someone that knows how to do bootstrap/recovery and 2ndinit like the DroidX etc use. ;)

Unfortunately I know nadda about either one. ;)

Dang playfulgod...I was hoping for a custom ROM from ya...

Sent from my H866C using Tapatalk 2

We need more people looking around and asking for help about the bootloader unlocking the bootloader that is I myself have been trying everything I think I've been through 5 phones already go ahead go out by another 1 give it a shot there's plenty of Walmarts around but on a serious note if any of you know of anyone that has done a lot of work with bootloaders unlocking them try to talk to them maybe they can help us out I've probably been on 50 different forums come on let's get this done

That is funny though Brick phone take it back Brick phone take it back Brick phone take it back Brick phone take it back I don't see a problem with it if they don't
And really you can blame it on
HUAWEI Because most of their other phones have unlocked bootloaders

I rooted my ascend h866c with poot and then downloaded system tuner from the market. it allows you to remove most of the non-removable apps.

I can tell you're right now
Since you remove some of the system apps do not do a factory data reset from the recovery you will get make internal image fail from e signature verification

I've removed a bunch of the system garbage and even put custom apps in with apps2rom. I factory reset all the time without problems. I just wish there was more rom space to put some more apps on. I got rid of google+, maps, wallpapers, talk, browser, email, etc. I did get rid of some calendar dependant apps but restored them with my first titanium backup. I even changed the start up and shut downs animations.

Giantpune,
Just wanted to say thank you for your hard work.I am a 40 year old man that has no tech skills what so ever and your punedebug.apk rooted my phone with no problem. Now all I have to do is learn what to do with it and how.
Again thank you.

I just bought the Ascend Y and attempted the poot method of rooting.

I downloaded poot-debug.apk and installed it - opened it, and it asked to download Ministro II (which I did)...

Ministro downloaded the libraries, and I was given the options "Press here to poot" or "Built-in rootcheck". I pressed poot, and was given the following:

+opened device
+set logging mode
+resolved symbols
+mapped 0x100000000
+hooked mask_request_validate()
-error running kernel-mode code
-failed to clean up our mess
-current && current !=last+1: 0000ffff 0000ffff
-haxx has run its coarse. reboot the device to play again

a demon materialized while pooting. error code:87
su binary was not written
you need to restart your device

I restart, and check for root, with no positive results.

UPDATE: I didn't install SuperUser before running poot. I factory reset, downloaded poot, and installed superuser. Followed directions until I got to "Press here to poot" and my phone froze. Low storage space, most likely. Trying again shortly.

UPDATE 2: That did it! I am now rooted and happy as a clam :D

Will the phone. Do the. Dload thing

Hi raymealer.. when you say if it does the dload thing.. do you mean after the root/poot prosses or before root is achieved? and do you mean while the phone is off or on. Currently i have tried it both ways and nothing happens?

I just baught my ascend y h866c cus i bricked my precedent which i was running areaMod. No i want to root this one... im just a little concerned bacause there is no stock ROM to go back to if something went wrong.. you know like with the precedent i could just run odin and it was all good and just start over with back ups.

Now the image, boot, and recovery.. is that what those files are for??? if so, how would I go about recoverying the phone if something goes wrong?

Also .. once i achieve root, would i be able to remove all the annoying apps i dont use and create a partition rom like the precedent to get more space for apps?

Hope you or anyone can help with these questions which others might want answered as well.

Thanks to all the fellas and giant for all the hard work so far. Cheers!!
