Root [ROOT] For LG Esteem ZVC!!!

I don't know why but I have been deathly afraid to root... normally I am all about doing it.. what happens if you brick the phone? Just walk in to a mPCS and they exchange it on the spot or what?[/QUOT

If for some reason you brick your phone either bootloop are completely won't power up at all, just bring it to Metro an just play stupid. They can't even tell if it is rooted anyways if it won't turn on. ;) They will just get you a replacement for $10 online and you have to wait a few days, or $30 if they have them in stock over the counter. Only go that route if its your last resort if the problem isn't fixable here! Hope this helps :D

Sweet. I have been rooting since Android1.6 but have been always under contract lol.. that's why I was a little worried but we are good.

I got a question I'm on zvc and rooted and install cwm from ROM manager is it ok to download gingerstem from ROM manager or is it not compatible for zvc and how to do it I need a walk through I'm new to flashing lol

When you flash any of the current ROMs available you will be downgrading to ZVB. But once you're rooted n have installed CWM it doesnt matter anymore.

Just dont want to flash the current zvb kernels with ZVC as they will prolly cause a bootloop, tho I've not tested this, so it may work. ;)

Anyone who has done this post up n let us know how it worked out. ;)

It works!!!!.I flashed gingersteem extreme and I.have zvc oc to 2.0 I had to.change it I had it in 2.2 but it boot looped randomly lol but the ROM is slick it's clean I'm loving it man

you can do that? are you literally on zvb, or thats just the system running but your techniqly still on zvc and can flash the zvc stock and blah blah blah??
You flash a full ROM thats available atm for the esteem n you're back on ZVB. I am working on a VZC GSE ;)

WOW...what is exactly involved(a simple fix or involved to update the ROM to be compatible with VC:confused:

Lots of downgrading still going on BTW..about 10-12 a day-perhaps until the "bugs" are worked out maybe:eek:

lol yeah its still seems people trust zvb more still... no ones livin dangerous now a days lol

than i shall wait till its available for my new theme idea/kang lol
from what I can see nothing was touched in system/app or framework, so current themes should work on ZVC.

no need to downgrade now, just root, install CWM, n flash a ROM lol.

Something changed in the kernel src that I have seen and prolly something corresponding in system. I know b4 we got root for C, the C kernel with the ZVB files bootlooped, and even with just the ZVB ramdisk and C kernel n system it still bootlooped.

i tried the living dangerous did the wipes and back up not sure what went wrong when i flashed zvc but all it wanted to do lg boot loop when unplugged from laptop plugged in it worked fine, but more options with zvb

Do I need the drivers on a Mac? I have debugging checked, and I'm on internet connection mode.
