Hi there,

Can someone point me to *reliable, clear, up-to-date* instructions on how to root a UK-purchased Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8010 (Wi-Fi version) running Android 4.1.1 please?

I just want to do it as quickly and simply as possible. And I can't be bothered "bricking" my device.

I need to install ProxyDroid to get internet access through my local network, and this apparently requires root access (absolute load of nonsense if you ask me).

Hi Ocnbrze,

Is the first link in the Rooting Guide the same thing as downloading Samsung Kies?

Can I use the Mac version of Kies, or do the varies software components for rooting require to be run on Windows?

The post is dated October, 2012 - does this represent the most up to date procedures for rooting?
