Well now that you are on JB, get yourself Titanium Backup, if you don't have it already. Use it to remove the Sprint phone info app. This app should show as a device administrator, and is an nasty app that allows blocking of phone functions. next go here for the pre configures tether app for JB

WiFi Tethering for JB - Preconfigured - xda-developers

Make sure you have install from unknown sources checked in settings/security, and install that app

I have done everything listed there but when i start tethering and set the phone down i check on my laptop and do not see it.

Did you change any settings in the app? When you ran it did you grant it root privileges and then start the tethering? I know the pre configured TrevE Mod tether works. I use it with my device on Stock JB

The only thing ive chaged was the SSID so i could see it easier on my laptop.
 
I have done everything in the instructions correctly but after i install superuser, the phone turns on but the screen is black? how long does it take for the phone to start after you start it?

Were you on Jelly Bean before trying this root method? If so, you flashed the wrong kernel. The Agat 0.6.8 kernel is for ICS only. For Jelly Bean, use the kernel from the link below.

can someone please help me after following all the instuctions to root my phone it wont back up it just goes to the screen with the yellow triangle and goes off please help thanks

Read all of the thread before doing things to your phone. If you were on JB (build GC01) before you rooted and used the Agat 0.6.8 kernel, then you used the wrong kernel. Look a couple of posts up from this one to get a link to the kernel for JB.
 
I have totally destroyed my phone as I was recovering my backuo my sd card came out and now I have no backup and odin dosnt recognize my phone at all is there anyting I can do to get it to work again thanks

Can you get your phone into download mode (power plus volume down, then volume up at the warning)? do this without plugging it into anything.

If it will do that, then you can do a one click restore of the entire ROM.
 
Heya folks, came across this thread when looking for a fix to my S2's love of turning itself off/eating battery life despite nothing running.

This looks like it will fix my problems but having trouble since I'm failing to find a fh or gb number so no way to follow the subsequent directions.

Sorry for necro posting, just seemed like the right spot to ask!
