Root Root Help on 2.3.3

I have a htc evo 4g

2.3.3
2.15.00.0808

i tried revolutionary and all it did was tell me that it was retrieving caroline from certain doom and all the steps were followed correctly and i have exhausted all of my internet resources

is it even possible to root my phone

Pull the battery out of your phone.
Put it back in
Hold Power +Volume down

This will bring you to your H-boot screen. Post the information that pops up here. Include S-ON/OFF status and H-boot version

It all depends on your H-boot version. There is a root method, we just need to point you in the right direction

2.15 is Unrevoked guys. 2.16 was the first hboot supported by revolutionary.

Edit: I just looked at the revolutionary website and maybe I'm wrong. I could have sworn it was 2.16 though.

2nd Edit: I see that 2.16 was supprorted first and then 2.15 was added later. I would try unrevoked.

Revolutionary supports both 2.15 & 2.16 HBOOT versions. unrEVOked is dependent on baseband (radio) version, not HBOOT. The newest baseband version supported by unrEVOked is 2.15.00.11.19, which was included with the 3.70 Froyo update (the last Froyo ROM released), which also included HBOOT 2.10. Thus, unrEVOked won't work for the OP.

So essentially, the rules for unlocking methods are:
  • Froyo or lower -> unrEVOked
  • Gingerbread versions up to and including 4.54.651.1 -> Revolutionary
  • Latest Gingerbread OTA (4.67.651.3) -> HTCDev.com

Thanks for clearing that up Captn. I've only been in the android world since after gingerbread so I know gingerbread= rEVOlutionary up untill this last update and froyo=unREVoked

I couldn't remember I was under the asumption that 2.16 and up was revolutionary and 2.10 was unrevoked. anyways we'll get the OP straight and rooted to much talent in here not to :D
