Ok so i have posted on here before but can't find it and also didn't really understand so i want to ask again.

Can someone point me in the direction please. I always thought i was fairly clue up when it came to things like this but it is all going straight over my head.

maybe a video would help

Thanks guys!

The easiest way is to use this tool

[TOOL] Advanced Ace Hack Kit (UPDATED 15-10-2011) - xda-developers

Which will essentially do the entire thing for you in one click. Download the zip file, read the manual (which is in the zip file). Run the script in a terminal or cmd and let it do its thing. Hopefully after 5 minutes or so it will be done and then it will be rooted and you can do whatever you like :)

For a more comprehensive guide and some different rooting methods, and different ROMs/radios you can use, see here http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...guide-dhd-all-things-root-roundup-sticky.html

Great stuff, think i'll give it a go. Can i download any rom etc... with this?

Does anyone know how long the process takes.

Yeah mine took about 6 minutes or so :)

And don't be worried about all the resets on your phone, it does it a few times and does some other weird looking things but it will work :)

Hi there chaps, this is my first post so please be gentle!:D

I hope i have posted in the right place for a little piece of advice.... I have run the advanced ace hack kit on my DHD, which ran and completed successfully (as far as i know) i have flashed CM 7.1, but when it boots it gets stuck on the CM7.1 blue loop screen, i read that the first boot takes a while, but i am not sure if 10-15 mins is too long.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, steve.

Welcome to the forums Steve!

Did you make a backup with ClockworkMod before flashing?

Try pulling the battery and re-inserting, turn on and, if you still have the same issue, let us know!!

You can try that way, you might be able to get away with redownloading and reflashing the ROM again though.

How did you flash in the first place, manually via Clockwork or with ROM Manager?

I did it via clockwork. I am just about to try the bootloop procedure, but hit a hurdle on the first step, it doesn't show bootloader, just fastboot. Am i screwed??

Thanks D-U-R-X

Yes i have made a backup before flashing, also tried pulling the battery and trying again (3 times in fact).
Found this on the CM forums, is this the way to go??

How to get out of a bootloop (Tutorial) - CyanogenMod Forum

No worries mate... worth double checking everything first!

And yes... that looks like it should sort you... it's on the CM page too, so you'd think that it was either written by one of their devs or that they would have taken it down if it didn't work! :)

When I've got CM before, I've done it through ROM Manager... I have flashed other ROM's via clockwork though!!

No need to apologise, I presumed from the fact you'd done most of the work yourself, it would make sense, apologies! :)

Basically, you need to download the kernel file (a kernel is the interface between the phones software and the hardware, a decent kernel can make a massive difference on performance and battery life). You can do that from here. Place that zip file on to the root of your SD Card and reboot back in to clockwork. From there, DO NOT wipe anything, take a backup, then select install zip from SD Card, choose the lorDmod zip file and flash as you did the ROM Package. Make sense?

There are instructions on how to calibrate your battery here: http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...ide-dhd-all-things-root-roundup-sticky.html#8

Right, lordmod kernel installed successfully.:)

As for the battery callibration, cant download the apps, cos my market app is not there.

When you flashed CM7.1, did you flash the gapps.zip? That is the Google Apps zip file. I'm reasonably sure that you should be able to flash that on top of CM7.1 (but am ready for El P to correct me)!
