Root Root help!!!!

I downloaded philz recovery and flashed it on my device successfully; Hopefully twrp is just the problem. Although I couldn't really find any stock sense 6.0 rome, i am downloading a stock android rom so i will install that in a little bit hopefully. Thanks for everything so far

I think any of the more popular xda roms for your variant would be a good place to start:

AT&T One (M8) Android Development - xda-developers

edit: Goldeneye appears rather stable.

Since you're using a MAC, make sure you're issuing the correct fastboot commands. I believe MAC's have to have -mac after fastboot. I'm not 100% there because I use Windows 7 or Ubuntu. :o

I believe the way it's supposed to be issued is: fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery.img

Like I said I don't use one so I'm not 100% there.

I've been using it without the -mac after fast boot and i can flash recoveries just fine.

Also, when i try to install a rom, it tries to install it but then says installation aborted or something like that. Is there a step that i skipped or something?

I would, you never know.

I assume your browser is not set up to auto extract the .zip files. I remember folks who were using Safari couldn't download Rom files without changing the settings first because it would automatically unzip them.

Wow, thanks everybody on this thread who helped me out! Without all you guys, my phone would be useless; i started to accept the fact that i'd either spend another $600, or not have a phone for the next 2 years. Coming from an iPhone 4, android is so much harder to root. On an iPhone it took 5 minutes and a few clicks, and boom, you were jailbroken.
After verifying that the md5 is correct on the custom rom, i installed it, and everything runs smoothly now. Seriously, thanks guys!!! :)

Get it rooted Dan, harder work than the S3 but there's an all in one toolbox floating round on xda that makes it easier than throwing around commands :thumb:

get the htc all in one toolkit and it would have taken 3 clicks and less than 5 minutes.

And it would have not given him any knowledge or experience, and would not provide any support if he got jammed up later.

The basic knowledge gained from unlocking the bootloader and installing a recovery is often needed later to fix prollems.

I personally do not care for toolkits... Just my 2 cents ;)
