Root Root htc evo 4g 2.3.5 question

im installing adroid sdk manage and i got a error says stopping adb server failed (code -1) will that affect me
 
it tells me to do this

Navigate to where you unzipped the ZIP file and go to the folder you just created (For Example: If you created the folder in C:\Android, then you would type in Command Prompt: cd c:\Android).

i dont know how to do that

Go to that folder, right click on it and one of the options that pops up is "open command window here"....click on that prompt.
Or, go to your start menu, click on start, click on run, then in the window that pops up type in cmd.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i merged the two threads together as they are about the same topic.

now all you need is a recovery and then you can start flashing roms.

just follow the steps:

ADB command method
1.download amon ra 2.3 from here:
PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip
2.extract the file and then go into and move recovery.img file into the android folder you created when unlocking your bootloader.
3.on your phone after you have unlocked your phone you should be in the bootloader menu screen, select the fastboot option
4.on your computer press and hold shift while right clicking the android folder.
5.select open command window here option (windows 7)
6.enter command:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
congrats!!!!!! you have just installed amon ra 2.3

ok so i merged the two threads together. lets just keep any questions you have on rooting in this thread. commenting on the same question on multiple threads makes it hard to help you.

now to your questions, no the next step says that your phone should be in the bootloader menu. select fastboot. and go from there.

at the bottom it should say RA supersonic 2.3 or something like that. if you see options in recovery then you can proceed to step 3 of the guide. you can either stay on stock and flash the su file or you can flash a custom rom. in the guide i recommend mikg3.11. it is waaaaaaay better then stock.

NICE!!!!!!!!!! that is amon ra2.3

i would first reboot the phone and then decide what you want to do for step 3 and go from there. it is the first option listed (reboot system now).
