Root Root method for Mac??

jmwade32

Newbie
I've been searching this site and the internet for an easy method to root using a Mac and there doesn't seem like there is much out there. I don't have Bootcamp nor Parallels on mine so I can't run windows. I tried following the Gingerbread root for dummies guide but that seemed more geared towards Windows users. In simple form, is there an easy way to root my Evo using a Mac? If not, I guess I'm stuck with this boring Evo :(

Thanks!

You can root using a MAC, but you need to install linux in a virtual environment and root from that.

Check out the "for those who have macs" section here

That will get you set up with linux. You will need to follow the rooting directions for your h-boot though, which may or may not be that guide.

Pull the battery, put it back in, and press volume down + power. This will bring you to H-boot. Post that and I can point you to the correct guide.

Hboot 2.18.0001
S-on
I know I'm on 2.3.5.

Actually all u need to is set adb for macs. There are several guides over on xda about it. I'm the phone right now so I can't link. After adb is setup then you can use the guide rxoert linked in the previous post. There us no need to run a virtual environment to root with the latest hboot.

I scrolled down from the link earlier and someone else posted this link [GUIDE] Using ADB & FASTBOOT in OSX / Mac - xda-developers

Is this similar to what you are talking about?
