Root Root no computer

Hey all!
I want to root my EVO (I know my prof says I owned E3D but I am in the right spot)BUTTTTT the charge port has broken off. Am I S.O.L or is there a way to do a ROOT with no computer?
HBoot 2.16 with software 4.53.651.1...anyone know anything?

You need a working charging port and a computer to achieve root.

I would look into getting the phone replaced either by sprint or through your insurance company if you have one.

Ya, I figured as much but wasn't 100% sure I know my Intercept was no computer needed root. But no she didn't have insurance so :/ O well, still a great phone. Now only if switching between my E3D and the E4G wasn't such a hassle!

Maybe keep an eye on z4root, it was a temp root in the past, but I believe it stopped working with on of the updates... I would guess that maybe they would eventually be able to get it working with the latest root method...?

yeah z4root only works for froyo, i believe, so that will not work. and like it has been mentioned you should take it in first. if they fix it, ask them not to update your phone. if they do update your phone, rooting it will be more difficult.

well that will depend on what ota the phone is on. most of the ota's have closed the gingerbreak exploit. by the time the evo had the gingerbread update, they closed the exploit so that evo owners never had the chance to use it when gingerbread came around. so unfortunately there is no way to root your phone with out a computer and a working usb port.
