Nandroid is not an acronym, it has no definition by itself, so I do not think it stands for anything in particular, but a nandroid -backup- does. A nandroid backup is, basically, a backup of your entire ROM in the state it currently is in. The back-up process creates a compressed .zip file which can be used to restore your phone entirely, or just some aspects of it. It is essential to always have a nandroid backup available right after rooting in case anything goes wrong with your phone while exploring the "bounderless" freedom that root gives you. However, it is also of extreme importance to have ClockWorkMod (CWM) Recovery flashed on your device since the preferred method (if others are available) on creating a nandroid backup is by using CWM.

man i almost totally F'ed up rerooting. been a while since i went through the root process and forgot that you have to select "internet connection" for this to work. got stuck on the deamon thing but once i switched to internet connection and checked the USB debugging box(was greyed out before) it went through fine.

might want to put more detailed instructions for doing this in the initial thread post.

Hi, all! First post. I've had my LG Connect 4G (MetroPCS) for just over a week now, and have had it rooted once, but when it started showing all sorts of problems (I probably uninstalled something it needed), I had to do a factory reset. I used the LG reset/upgrade tool. Now I'm trying to re-root. This is the tool I used the first time, but this time, it won't work for me. I keep getting this after the remount (paraphrased - I can't copy from the root program screen):

cannot stat su - file doesn't exist
cannot chown - directory (path to su) doesn't exist
cannot stat busybox - file doesn't exist

What happened to my phone when I did the LG restore to factory settings? Is there any way I can go in through the USB and actually build the directory structure it needs and place the apks there, so it will find them?

EDIT: I figured out what the problem was, though not why it was a problem. I had not unmounted my SD card. From now on, when I root, I'll simply unmount and extract my SD card. Problem solved.

When I begin the run process on the Verizon executable, the first box states it's the Verizon app. I hit "cancel" to stop the installation at that point.

Different network. Both are CDMA, but MetroPCS is a different network and I'm concerned that the Verizon LG Connect might have different Android OS tweaks than the MetroPCS LG Connect does.

Did you create this .exe? If so, can you create one for MetroPCS LG Connects? Do you test on Connect phones from both operators?

Looking to hear your thoughts...
thx

i have the same problem.. "waiting for device..." can anyone help me? thanks.

would love to root my lg connnect, metro pcs. I know enough to be dangerous but not with a 400 dollar phone plz help me get in contact with the person doing remote access, and thanks

Firstly this worked flawlessly....Huge thanks! now whats safe to remove and best program to do so?

If you use TitaniumBackup you can just "freeze" the apps you don't want instead of un installing them. Or you can use that app to just uninstall if you want. As far as Metro apps go, you can do away with all of them, however you want, if you want, except, MetroWeb. You won't be able to access the play store if get rid of that. If you need a navigator, there are better ones in the play store than Metros, you don't need MyMetro, anything that does you can do by calling. There isn't one single Metro app you need to keep except the Web browser. Then it's up to you if want to keep an app or not. If you aren't paying the $70 & don't have a Rhapsody account, get rid of it. If you aren't sure, then just freeze it. You can always un freeze it.
