Root Root + OverclockWidget = Insane Battery Life 40+ Hours

I just did the longbench/screen off bench and it's working great on Myns Warm RLS 3 stock kernel.

350 or so awake and I got up to 7000 w/the screen off.

I have root and Overclock Widget. I have the CPU scale down to the 200 mhz range when screen off and 998 when screen on. Below is a screen shot after 21 hours off the charger at %49. This puts the phone at almost 2 days before a charge is needed.

This is not a root thread. Please do not ask for help rooting and lets keep it on topic! :)

I would guess that he means the timing of it all allows for two days of use since this isn't being used in the dead of night

Same with MIUI... 440sih with the screen on and 4400ish with the screen off.

Here's a question... now that I have MIUI's rom installed... if I wanted to flash Myns Warm Rom what do I need to do to insure a safe and stable install? Kernel's.... what are they and do I need a new one each time I flash a Rom... Right now I have the 12.24 MIUI Rom installed with the ??Stock Kernel?? Is that right????? The Stock Kernel... Any way... I'm enjoying being rooted again and really enjoy the MIUI rom... However the camera app is ugly and my 3G signal seems weak... Do I need another "Radio"...???? Anyone wanna help fill me in? Please don't point me to a lengthy post over at the noob thread... I've been reading, but looking for lamins terms please...

works great with Sprint Lovers + AOSP Superior Battery kernel. 34hrs off a single charge of moderate use.

I decided to give this a try, what else can I lose? I am rooted with Unrevoked3. And after this root there was no battery difference vs nonRooted. I ran into this forum a while back, but my phone wasnt rooted. So here I am after a root. I followed Nicks instructions, he didnt mention any change about "Update Interval" so I left it at default.

So basically I still have Sprint's ROM, and rooted with unrevoked3, and follow Nick's Over clocking instruction and this is my outcome. I leave 3G on ALL day, and only turn it off when Im taking my beauty sleep;) I notice Nick has Wifi on vs 3G. Im sure there is a high possibility I might get that extra 5-10 hours if i use wifi when Im at home instead of 3G. (That will be my next experiment) Oh, and I am using my OEM stock battery! And the awake time might seem less, but that is mostly with emails/wifi tether lots during the day at work & School/and using GPS navigation. And in the past, I was lucky if i was able to get 12 hour, average was 9-10 hours without the over clocking widget, same useage.

the simplest thing you can do to really increase your runtime on a charge is to turn wifi on and use it (that is, be on a wifi network as much as possible). I can get 48 hours on one charge if I stay at home or work with my phone. If I spend an hour or two out where there is a no wifi and a weak 3G signal, then there is a huge battery drain at those times. Plot your battery charge and you'll see this, too.

I tried this with myns rls5, stock kernel. It caused a wake lock. 40% after 9 hours. I uninstalled, without it I get 16 hours, it's good enough.

Overclocking it is. I tried SETCPU, and Im back here. SETCUP was better than plain old stock battery, I was getting up to 19-22 hours with SETCUP. before anything, I was getting 9-12. Overclock widget, 30-39hours.

I tried it on my HTC Hero, just flashed CM 6.1 a few days ago. OCWidget immediately froze my phone, I had to yank the battery. Maybe I did something wrong, I dunno. Unistalled.
Actually I'm happy with my battery life already. I was just trying this out for fun so no harm done...

I installed this 6 hours ago, set it according to settings here and with almost no usage (5min phone call and checking email twice) battery has gone down almost 40%. Rom is MIUI with its default kernel, so I'm disappointed so far.

I can't get this to work. I'm running warm 2.2 rls 5, rooted. No use, only checking cock and calender, twice in 3 hours and I'm down to 70% off a full charge. Wtf?

i sell bs..
Different day, different usage. I must for those of you who arent getting it working, its doesnt mean this doesn't work, its probably means its not working with your custom ROM? Dont hate! :)

I tried this on myns and the stock rom, both with stock kernels and netarchy kernels. I never got even close to 24 hours. With rls5 and netarchy kernel I get close to 24 hours, without any clocking apps. I don't need any more than that.

Same here. I believe, I recently burned out a cell in my battery because I cannot achieve 24 hours of use with my EVO using 2.2 rls 5. Although, the video states that maybe its a kernal issue that would allow underclocking to be achieved.

I am running the Fresh Evo ROM with the overclock widgit set to the same settings on the below screen shot, and my battery life is not so good, am i doing something wrong?

Actually I just switched to KONI's ELITE Series I , with the stock kernel and if my battery life doesnt improve by tomorrow I am going to flash "Netarchy Toastmod 4.3.1 CFS Havs nosbc" and see if that helps, does that sound like a good combo of ROM/Kernel?

I haven't run this rom yet, but I do use this kernel. Works great on my phone.
Make a nandroid and give it a try, see if your phone will run it. If you run into any problems, instability, random reboots, flash the NOHAVS version. Not all phones seem to be able to run HAVS.

Good Luck! :)

For those that have OverclockWidget working for them, what kernal and rom is everyone using?

I'm using Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS5 with kernal 2.6.32.17-gee557fd htc-kernel@and18-2 #15.

This thread was started pretty old, so im not sure if we all got a update kernal after the OTA date. When I checked, mines and my husbands was differnt for some reason, unsure. We were on stock everything. I'll be happy with 18+ hours of battery life without any clcoking apps, but mines wont last with stock ROM. (I ust don't want to mess with custom ROMs yet). So im glad of this overclocking widget app.

Stock ROM, Kernal 2.6.32.17-gee557fd, htc-kernal@and18-2 #15, overclock widget worked for me.
