Root root,s-off,simunlock,superCID htc merge

Wow, good heads up on that on Scotty! I'm so geeked out trying to fix this thing I didn't even think about that..

So yes, that actually is listed as the Build number as well as Software.

Thanks so much for all of your input, I'm one of those ppl who can't put something down until I can figure it out. But I have a massive paper to write so hopefully I'll get to work on it later tonight or tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes!

Just wanted to let you know I was never able to resolve my issues. On the plus side, since it was a company phone nTelos upgraded me to a Samsung s3

Ran into a little problem

Im on RUU
RUU_Lexikon_GB_US_Cellular_WWE_3.20.573.2_Radio_1.08.00.0106_NV_USC_3.02_1222_PRL15107_release_249414_signed

Hboot 0.89.0000

It says that it only works with hboot versions under 82

Can I still root,s-off etc? I would like to flash CM7 at the least, any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

what says it only works on hboots under 82?

yes you can easily still downgrade/root/s off. on your build, the temp root methods prolly do not work,so youll need to htcdev unlock to gain root access to change the misc image.

Edit I got the bootloader unlocked from htcdev

Also the goldcard link is no good anymore

http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard

I used this site
http://huygens.hoxnet.com/goldcard.html

And got the goldcard downloaded

So I need to flash the vzw ruu to root and s-off then flash back to usccRUU ,right?

Bootloader unlocked by htcdev and flashed cwm recovery, and made a backup of stock Rom.

I'm stuck at step 5. I get to sending 149 zerglings, then 189 zerglings, then it says "HELLIONS with blue flames", and it goes back to my regular web-mini_merge prompt. Any ideas?

Pardon my noobness, first HTC phone:D

you will not use a temp root means, that was the point of unlocking the bootloader ;)

if you notice in the second post, there is an alternate step 5. youll need to follow the guide completely, from the first post, but subsituting the htcdev step 5 from the second post.

as long as your gold card is made correctly, you should be good to go :)

if you do have gold card issues, you can use the first few lines of this thread to make one: http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...lock-supercid-inspire-4g-dhd.html#post5660947

sorry about the guide jumping around. this one has become outdated :( sometime in the next few days, ill try and get a "fresher" more current guide up that only uses htc dev,and hopefully will be less confusing for future merge rooters :)

OK I got the bootloader unlock working, also flashed superuser and CWM recovery, still failing to downgrade with my goldcard, I tried the goldcard link you posted but I just got this

$ su
su
# chmod 775 /data/local/tmp/goldcard
chmod 775 /data/local/tmp/goldcard
# cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid
cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid
035344535530384780127d769900ba6e
# /data/local/tmp/goldcard -c <035344535530384780127d769900ba6e> -o /data/local/
goldcard.img
/data/local/tmp/goldcard -c <035344535530384780127d769900ba6e> -o /data/local/go
ldcard.img
cannot open 035344535530384780127d769900ba6e: no such file

not sure where I went wrong (just copy and paste), maybe its because I haven't activated the phone with the carrier yet.

edit: I am <dumb>, I removes the signs<>, and it worked, I am not booting to the freaky black recovery screen though, so thats where im stuck now......

Are you still getting the cid error? the changing back to locked seems to be a quirk with the merge htcdev compatible hboot.

im not sure what you mean. i nead a clearer explanation of what youve done, and what the issue is.

do you have s off and supercid?

Im Trying S-off and Upgrade into Gingerbread..
I did everything you mentioned in the first page to step 5.. but when it reboots to bootloader it never goes forward.. when i select "Bootloader" with power button.. same page appears with "fastboot, simlock, img crc, etc" and when i select "fastboot" then again that "Bootloader" page appears.

sorry im not good in explaining :(

ahhh,if i understand correctly, hboot is now finding your downgrade firmware.

if this is the case, there are only a couple reasons:
1)PD42IMG is not on the "root" of the sd card, its inside a folder where the phone cant find it. it needs to be at the top level, with all other folders.

2)PD42IMG is not named correctly. the phone must see "PD42IMG.zip" so it is usually correct to name the file "PD42IMG" when using windows, due to the way windoows automatically adds and hides the extension. typing in the ".zip" results in a file name of "PD42IMG.zip.zip" on rarer occasions,if your pc is not set this way,the file may just be on the phone as "PD42IMG". neither of these will work,so try adding or deleting the .zip file extension. you can also look at the sd card on the phone with a file manager and see how exactly it is named. again, looking at the file on the phone, you must see PD42IMG.zip

3)sd card is bad,or not formatted FAT32. plain FAT or other formats, the phone will not see the file.

if you have no luck after the above checks, you can always leave hboot and the sd card out of the equation. you can flash via fastboot and "ruu mode" in the following manner:
if youre working with a booted, operational phone, you can flsh the file in the following manner:

-open a cmd window

-change to adb/fastboot directory
cd c:\foldername
(cd c:\mini-adb if youve used any of my guides :))

-place the zip file you want to flash into adb/fastboot directory

-enable usb debug, disable fastboot, plug in phone

-check for connectivity
adb devices (should return serial number)

-boot to fastboot
adb reboot bootloader

-check for connectivity again
fastboot devices

-flash the file
fastboot erase cache

fastboto oem rebootRUU (will put you in ruu mode, black screen silver htc letters)

fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip (will send and flash the file. dont interupt it while the cmd window shows its writinging, and the green status bar is moving on the phone screen)

*sometimes a file will fail with a pre-update error. this is normal, just enter again:
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip
and this time it will finish

-when you get "finished" and "OK"
fastboot reboot-bootloader (takes you back to fastboot)

-reboot back to the OS
fastbooot reboot

you can use this if you dont have an operational phone as well. you just need to manually put the phone in fastboot(select from hboot menu) then skip the "adb" commands and start with fastboot devices

as long as your main version change was successful, you should be able to flash your downgrade firmware and continue. holler if you have further questions :)

Thankyou so much for Quick reply Scotty.

I extract the file "PD42IMG-vzw-leak.zip" and Renamed the folder with "PD42IMG" and Copied it into the SD card..
since its Verizone i think i dont have to make a Goldcard or do i??
I wil try again and get back to you. Thanks alot man :) You're Awsome

Do not extract the file! Just rename it.

Correct, since the device is verizon, you do not need a gold card.

Above procedure will S-off and Root too right?

no. it will flash the downgrade firmware, wich is exploitable via the "gfree" tool.

after the downgraded firmware is in place, youll need to continue on with the guide. once you run gfree, you will be s off, supercid, and sim unlocked(tho you prolly were not really simlocked in the first place)

at this point, you can run the usc GB ruu. if you use the official ruu,it will install the stock recovery and may allow you to OTA to the most current version(since youre not on usc,OTA may not work)

after you have upgraded and possibly OTAed,you will need to:
-install recovery
-flash superuser files(id use superSU instead of the files in the OP. the link you want is labled: CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN installable ZIP and is about halfway thru the post)

in the forum, there is good development on AOSP based roms for ICS and JB,so you might give one of those a shot as well if you want thelatest and greatest :)

Sorry Scoty! I was so much busy i didnt try yet.. and im a total geek.:P I actually dont know anything about "gfree" tool, CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN, OTA and stuff cause its the only cellphone i have :P so i wil google it and grab some info and then i wil try soon.

I appriciate your Helping and Quick Responces. THANKYOU SO MUCH BIG TIME ^_^

no,silly... no need to google anything, you just need to follow the guide. gfree is the tool that this guide is using to achieve s off. you dont need to do anything special, just follow all the steps in the first post :)

Hey Scooty I flashed the Leak Ruu (thank you so much for above Guide) but now this Activation thing is not going away :( .*228 activation is not support in my country. i have few question.

1: How can i get rid of this activation thing?
2: if i'll change the current ruu (which is still Verizone fryo) to usc Ginger bread, activation thing will still come?
3: since i have flashed it now can i continou from 6th step from you first post?
4: Now How Can i Replace Verizone Ruu to Usc Ruu?
