Root Root the Reverb (no PC Required)

I just want to be 100% sure before I root. If I just leave the ROM the same and simply root without doing anything else, will I be able to reset to factory default the normal way a few months down the line in case something unrelated happens or my phone just needs to be refreshed? I only ask because, after rooting the Optimus V, doing a factory reset in the Settings menu would cause a brick. Thanks!

I keep getting error code 80 can not write su binary, I try restarting phone and can't get super user to update there isn't a button to update I had root and tried to install baseband update it failed in CMW but I got it by flashing it on and can't gain root access again
P.S. I have party time jellybean sandwich v2.3 and baseband MB3

No it isnt its only a custom rom, and the baseband upate un-rooted me anyways how do i root agian i have tried all of the steps above please help

The baseband update does unroot.
So no he is no longer rooted.
I have the rush but we use the same chip set and I have jellybean sandwich v2.4 and the MB3 update unrooted me.

I just tried to root mine, I used the Optimus Elite root with an apk like others did. After I hit the "poot" button I got a permissions error and a few minutes later my phone rebooted and now it's stuck in a boot loop. It's blank, shows the Samsung logo, blank, shows samsung logo, etc... help?!

Thanks.
Ben

I left the battery out for five minutes then the phone booted when I put it back in. ::whew::

So, back to rooting. When I push "press here to poot" this is the error I get. Any ideas?

A demon materialized while pooting. Error code: 18
su binary was not written

Thanks.

I don't think this method works at all with the JB update. Check the dates! But the Welcome to Jelly Bean thread has a method that works fine. - sheureka

this did not work for my reverb at all and I tried it over and over i even watched a video

Welcome to our AndroidForums, snipersgirl :).

Here's the original thread where the poot rooting tool was first released:

http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/612914-optimus-elite-root-apk.html

There might be some tips in there that could also help you achieve root (even though it was originally developed for the Optimus Elite and you have a Reverb).

Cheers and best of luck!
