Hello, I'm a newbie in the android business, just got my X8 a week back. I have the same problem as this guy:

Killing ADB Server...

OK

Starting ADB Server...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

OK

Waiting for device...

I downloaded this:

you need to install x8 usb drivers..

X8DRIVERS.ZIP

once you've installed em than try again

saved it on my desktop, extracted it on my desktop. This is probably a stupid question, but what do I do with it now? Despite my SD card being unmounted, my PC still detects my X8 fine.

To answer your question (to be able to answer mine),
before I tell you anything further check this :

1. have you updated to 2.1?
2. is your debugging mode ON?

1. Yes (it already came with 2.1 off the shop)
2. Yes, made sure twice

Does having a 2.1 mean I have to do this root guide? :confused:

as i clicked d root optiion i recieved an error .
these are the details of d error.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

pls help

hey, it stuck at "waiting for device". I had tried to repeat that procedure so many times. Waiting more than half an hour. plz help....

Will unrooting makes my XPERIA X8 as it was at the time of buying.........?

And will i get the warranty BACK in case of unrootin.........?

I am using sony ericsson xperia x8 with android 2.1

As long as you only rooted it and didn't change your firmware or debrand the phone then running SEUS should return the phone to a 'Warranty' condition.

hello all

i have tired of what it said in post one of this topic...

eg enabled debuggin on my phone, unmounted the sdcard. downloaded and extreated the superoneclick program attached to the first post of this topic
clicked on root, after the program loaded. and it was working for the start and then it keeping giving me the messages and so on, then the usb keeped re connecting,
can anyone help

u can find a log of the program at my site at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.pude/superoneclick.txt

Note to all. the above link is not to promte my site, just a location that i safely store logs...

edition: i tried it again, eg i did the following. copyed the sdcard data to my laptop, did a factory reset. and then used the program again it worked but when it said rooting complete and then said phone is now rooted, i went to the phone, user root checker and that said it isnt rooted,..

i have some questions...if i root my x8 (current version is 1.6) can I easily update its version to 2.1? thanks.
how do i update to that sort of version...

my current versions are as follows
firmware: 2.1-update1
kernel : 2.6.29 (SEMCUser@semchOST #1
build number: 2.1.1.A.0.6

a new update
i have mangnaged to get root access...

heres how i did it
Note: When u connected the USB to the pc and to the phone, make sure the usb debugging option is ticked, as it said in the beginning of this topic...

1, i downloaded the old superoneclick.
2. downloaded the "mount /system (rw/ro) " and "Root Checker" programs from the android market..
3. in Mount /system (rw/ro) i used the mount r/w button.
4. on the pc i loaded superoneclick and clicked on root. now this was susessful.
5. on my phone, loaded Root Checker, and checked to see if its got root access.

bear in mind i had to do a few reboots on the phone, and also do a factory reset twice.

don't forget that the superoneclick will install a few programs like superuser,
hope that helps everyone,, if any problems with the way i done it let me know
