Root Root unsuccessful?

I just did the manual rooting process. Everything seemed normal and went smoothly.

I got all the way to the end and flashed CWM. How do I check if the root was successful or not? I'm trying to run Titanium back up and some other apps and they say "Cannot gain root access."

During the flashing of the second ROM, I got "BYPASS" instead of OK in one of categories on the list of items on the Thunderbolt screen. Do I have to redo this?

Go ahead and remove the RUU files from your SD card and power off. Hold volume down and power and go into the fast boot screen. It should say S-Off.

Thanks for the response. I figured it out.

As for root access, I had it the entire time.

Using Titanium Backup, it asked for BusyBox. That was the problem. I simply went to the Market, downloaded and installed busybox. Then Titaniumbackup worked.

Checking root access is done simply by going to the market and downloading root checker.

I answer my own questions in threads just in case anyone else runs along this problem in the future and needs help! Otherwise, this thread can be deleted.

You don't have to download an app to find out if you're rooted or not, chrisjm described exactly how to check. You can also open any root app and if it doesn't ask you to allow superuser permissions then you're not rooted

first time i ran titaium it wanted busybox... but all i had to do was push "prollems" in the lower right hand corner and titanium said "get busybox?" i touched yes and voila! worrking titanium :D

if you dint get that option, its strange... but im glad downloading it from the market worked for you.
