Root Root users and November update

So how are all of you root users planning on getting the November system update? Unrooting to stock or waiting for the XDA release?

Also will the XDA release of the update wipe the phone?

IMO, it's not worth unrooting, a lot of the custom ROMs are already using the new stuff

I just flashed Myn's Warm 2.2 and I'm pretty sure there's new stuff in it since it's based of the 10/13/10 leak

I'm using Frankenrom b6. I havent flashed another rom since this came out. I love my rom and am comfortable but I would like to see what this Vcast store is about. Is there a way to still get it but not have to change my radio and switch roms again?

That's the thing, I wasn't sure what I should do. Either unroot to get the update, find the update on XDA or install a custom ROM. Either way the phone practically gets a factory reset regardless.

i don't plan on using this new update. i plan to keep my current rom as is. how do i go about keeping what i have without being annoyed to update?

I have been rooted with s-off for about a month now, no custom roms, kernals, or radios. Just got rid of bloatware and using SetCPU to save my battery.

What is included in the November update?

It was my understanding that if you're rooted with the stock ROM, then you will get the OTA. And since the phone has S-off, I should not loose root. I rooted using unRevoked.

Theres only one way to find out!

Also since my initial post I have unrooted and flashed the stock 2.2 ROM. Now just waiting.

I'm rooted with the stock rom and I keep getting the ota notice. As soon as I try to install, it tells me I am up to date. Then I get the update notice again the next day.

i don't think the OTA will install if you have root. i updated it via RUU (make sure you have S-OFF since you will lose root once you install the OTA -- it has a new hboot and recovery and you have to reflash the recovery).

try these links: update guide, xda forum

you can download the rom from the xda forum thread if you don't feel like extracting it (see post 67).

it will wipe your phone clean, so make sure you do a titanium backup (or similar) before updating and then restore user apps and system data after doing all the steps in the guide.

At the moment I am rooted and have Redemptive Revolution custom ROM flashed on my Incredible. If I don't want to unroot and flash back to stock, I just have to wait till RR is updated or find the update on XDA and install it? What would be easier/better process if I wanted to get the November update? Mahalo in advance.

UPDATE:

Just went to the XDA forums and got the new RR 2.1 custom ROM with the OTA update. SWEET. Flashing it right now onto my Incredible.

RR already has the november update minus all the vcast junk and any vzw bloatware.

I am running Virtuous 3.0.1 not the newest version. For whatever reason I get better battery life out of this version. ANYWAY, I received the notification today that I have an OTA ready to install. From what I've read here and XDA we don't need to update if we have root because MOST of the newer ROMS already have everything in it from this update. Is that correct?

IF I accept the OTA then I will lose root, but will be able to restore clockworkmod and get root back because I am S-Off, correct?

Yes you are correct on both counts.

The stupid thing won't stop hounding me. I never experienced this with 2.2 because I was already rooted with 2.2 when it was released. How do you make it go away?

IMO, there is no need to get the OTA update, unless you want the Vcast store and more bloatware. I've been on a ROM based off the original 2.2 update. Today, I just flashed just the stock kernel based on the OTA. The benefit? Fast charging - averaging 1% per minute
