Root Root + Warranty Question

Well... does rooting void the warranty? I've heard differing opinions. Some say that rooting doesn't void warranty while modding the bootloader does. Others say both would void warranty.

Any ideas?

I'm having screen issues and I'm waiting for a replacement. Just want to get some clarifications on this before I do anything.

I think the consensus is that rooting could void your warranty. I.e., if you try to return a rooted phone to VZW and they see / can tell that its been rooted, this gives them a reason to deny any claim you might make.

Doesn't mean that they will notice, but they could.

yes rooting does void your warranty.
if you were to return the phone to the service provider or manufacturer and they were to discover that you had rooted it, they could deem that you have tampered with the phone thus voiding the warranty and they would be fully and legally within their rites to do so.
if you plan to return the phone for what ever reason return it to stock condition first. like already said they may not notice but if they do you'r pretty much stuffed.
