Root root your mytouch 3g!!!

There are plenty of roms. You can find them in xda or androidspin. But all 2.1 roms will be laggy right now because of the hardware of magic phones.
 
Cyanogen is getting ready to release his 2.1 ROM for mt3g/g1. He's leaving out live wallpapers and the nexus launcher, but everything else is working! can't wait!

Just got my T-Mobile 3g MyTouch HTC with Google about 3 weeks ago and i am thinking about rooting it. Could someone tell me what the best/free Rom would be for playing emulators on it would be and also post a link for the video instructing how to do it. This is my first 3g phone and i have never done anything like this before. All i want is to be able to play Chrono Trigger and Mario bros on it and still be able to do all the things it normally does. Anyways thanks and i'll be waiting for your respones.

you don't need to root to run emulators. just download Nesoid and SNesoid from the Market.
 
If I root will that prevent me from getting the OTA update to 2.1?

If I update to 2.1, will I no longer be able to root?
 
Yeah it finally started working rite but in chrono trigger and breath of fire some of the screens are dark and hazy (in chrono trigger when u get to the first dome in the future) and also some of the gba games run slow. If i were to root would it help with those problems?

I'm just guessing, but the "dark and hazy" screens sound like an issue with the emulator, or the game rom itself. The speed wouldn't likely be helped by rooting, either; the MT3G just plain doesn't have a lot of ram.

I have only one Snesoid game, and another 3D game made (or ported) for Android, and they both run slow and choppy.

I don't think you can overclock the CPU but there is a utility called SetCPU which allows you to define how fast the processor should run in given circumstances. I have downloaded the latest CM5.0 rom with setCPU, it's running faster than the MT3G stock configuration.
 
Can we update the first post in this thread? The text documents says a "goldcard" is needed to root mt3g. Is this still true? It's been a whole year.
