trying to root a marquee for a friend of mine... got to software upgrade mode, the updater tool failed, and now it will only boot to the stock recovery and download mode (not sw upgrade mode... )

power button= boot to stock recovery
vol down + power= boot to stock recovery
vol up + camera + power= downloading mode

any ideas guys? losing my mind trying to figure this out.

ps the update tool wont detect the phone on dl mode... (tried that too)

*facepalm* menu button to select options... not home.. got it to boot... guess in going to keep trying

Hi I'm uploading the info needed by my boost phone and having auto saved on as card and then after downloading I unmounted the as card and then insert it into a 2.0 mini card reader to my laptop and I open the files as instructed to do so and will try to root and Finnish the process when I'm done I will get back with talk and yes the download does take sometime due to 3g but that's how I uploaded my drives to my laptop from my cell lol it is a long process but it's worth the wait .I will be back soon for an update thanks.

Ps. I tried and didnt load up the programs properly on the laptop . So please disregard this the best way to go is on a laptop or desk top but not smaller than a windows vista buisness edition. Its a bit difficult at first but after many trial and errors i got it done but the download that you have to do at the end will be very slow depending on your system.Zip file to sd takes between 17 to 8 hours to download for me on the vista not sure why so long but hey my phones rooted yea . I get an error message while trying this... updater goes thru its process and every things looks like it is going well untill a dialog box pops up saying... Upgrade error WParam:100 LParam:55... Help me please

This means you tried the wrong setting its either cdma or cdma smartphone or the 3dq what ever . I did have a difficult time the first 30 trys and realized i forgot to restart the computer after doing so the insolation was working and it even told me if i had the wrong setting for the cdma TRUST ME im a newbee to all this and its not easy if you dont have patients and yes it does take some time but you have to follow the directions percisly to the the T and if you dont your either stuck and not getting any where or you could damage ur phone but only a idiot would do that if you truly think you cant do it find someone that can do it for you and watch them do it step by step and learn then later if you have to do it again on the same phone or another phone it should be a breeze. Hi guys I have my phone rooted and cwm installed but . Heres the thing I dont know how to install the zip file to sd correctly is it supposed to be zipped or unzipped and well a extracted file or not I had It loaded as stock file but when I go to it in cwn it doesnt load automaticlly it just goes thru the file and says no file found in cwm can yall help please im using windows vista buisness amd64x2 on a compaq laptop everything else is done and my phone is rooted but Im stuck with zip file not sure how to do it properly. Any help would be nice thanks.

The file is supposed to remain zipped.
In cwm you select 'install zip from sdcard' followed by 'choose zip from sdcard' and then locate the zip, select it and then select 'yes'.

I was able to put the kdz update on the phone and root it. so now when i turn my phone on and etc.. it says sprint. well my questain is is it immperative to install the rooted sw for boost back on my phone cause i might be wrong but it seems like my data is much faster than before is that because its runing off of sprint network?

As long as you flashed the zvc Boost version By Bloodawn you're OK. One is the Sprint baseband modified for Boost and one it's the straight Boost baseband. Many of the members here run the Sprint version. The choice is yours. If you think it's running better with the zvc version, I would stick with it. :thumbup:

Make sure after adding zip file correctly and going to cwm and doing what your suppose to do it should load and reboot automaticlly if not got to reboot and it should reboot and come back up as boost mobile with zv4 with root access.it should say SW Version LG855zv4 baseband version LG855ZV4-m6600a-SCAUTSZ-3.0.40T

Ya I didnt realize i was doing it wrong and tried to send zip to phone and had to remove the sd card and install it in a mini usb reader and then send the zip file to sd card and it only took seconds instead of hours, The bad thing is i know more about computers than my sister and she had to help me lol. It depends on your likes and what style you like all roms have different pros and cons. GB, ICS, and JB all good in there own rights. Depends if camera is a big deal or not. I personally like MIUI ICS and cm10. But going to try out MIUI JB tonight.

hey, I dont even know if i can ask somthing like this on here, if not mybad. but i just rooted my lg marquee and is there a way to make my data faster by runing my data off of another service provider I.E verizon att t-mobile, and if not i have seen somthing about changing the proxy settings on marquee to 0.0.0 and it would run faster, is there any truth to that?

It won't work, you will just lose service. Sprint doesn't have roaming on Verizon

I did a Windows update then rebooted then immediately after full boot up I used the updater and it finally work after I had to go through that about 50 times it took me 2 days to get it to work correctly

Yep, your Windows needs to be up to date before the root process will work.

FOR ANY USER HAVING ISSUES WITH KDZ UPDATER:

If you are having problems with the KDZ updater (Not Responding) or crashing here is the fix.

In the same folder as the KDZ updater, you will find a file named msxml.msi

Double click that and install as prompted. Once that has completed, just re-open the program and everything should go as planned!

Alright, I rooted and got CTmod installed. No one had an easy to read solution to my two problems, so here's what I did. Win 7 x64

[Problem] adb command not found
[Solution] Do not run the .bat file as administrator.

This will take you to the next issue.

[Problem] root stuck on daemon started successfully
[Solutionzzz] Ensure you have the latest USB driver installed.
You probably already downloaded this but maybe installed an older version over it. Version 3.8.1 is the latest at the time of this writing.

Get the batch file running to the, classic "started successfully." This is a wait mode, and it waits to see your phone. Plug your phone in. Doesn't work, turn off the phone, unplug it, power it back on, and immediately plug it into a different USB port. Wait for it to get to the unlock and then unlock it, if the "zerg rush" hasn't started do this again with a different USB port.

Took me three tries and plugging and unplugging alone didn't do it for me.

Hope this helps and be sure to backup after you root. I have my image safely sitting on an old 1 gig sd card.

Oh and one word to the developer of the fix. I think the daemon server is interfering with the phone detection. I used task manager to end the adb.exe while the console was running and ending the 0.9 mb version allowed the computer to find the phone but it would immediately try to get daemon back up and would then display phone not found while it tried to send data.

I had something like this happen with my prevail. The usb on the phone dropped out. Couldn't use Odin. After about a hundred wipes and stock installs i finally got it back. Not sure what you can do without being rooted. Try wiping the phone from the settings menu and start from the top?

I don't know if this was a fluke or what, but I accidently left my phone on when I did the "Launch KDZ update" and it worked.

EDIT: Worked perfectly after leaving the phone on to do the KDZ update. Thanks for this thread!
