Root Root Zte warp elite N5918

Well guys, I "upgraded" to the ZTE Max XL. I gave the Warp Elite to my dad. However I'll still be watching this and helping in anyway I can. Because if it does get root, I'll root it for my dad.

Anyway, I'm still in the same boat with the ZTE Max XL, it seems like this one, it does not have root yet! Lol.

But it's more recent, it was released in May. Maybe one of these phones will get root, hopefully both.

I'm still using the ZTE Force 4G as well, at least it has root. :D

I believe I read somewhere before that the Elite or Warp7 has Root but still a locked bootloader.. Where they had to do a boot/recovery swap (like the original Zmax) to get RW for Root, but still no TWRP capability. As for the link, it's definitely not a local thing. Not even the same continent. I would flag this link as false BS, like RootLokr or something

after that it's about maybe unlocking the bootloader, modifying the boot.img, possibly selinux settings to permissive, not sure about dm-verity..
 
The bootloader on the phone is locked? Can we try dding a custom recovery to the recovery partition?
if it goes wrong the phone will still boot, be able to be re-temp-rooted, and reflashed with DD back to stock provided you have made a backup of the stock recovery img...


Just for shits and giggles...

do this:

get temp root

grab the partition layout like this:

OR narrow it down like this:

ls -l /dev/block/platform/*/by-name/recovery
then backup the stock revovery.img to your sdcard using dd
in example if your revovery is here: /dev/block/mmcblk0p26
then you'd back it up like this.

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p26 of=/sdcard/recovery.img

BEST ALSO TO UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR STOCK IMAGES ON THE THREAD FOR POSTERITY.

Also it might take a few bitches via email (more than one email) - make sure you mention the "GPL!"
Request the sourcecode. (this might help some of the smarter people find bugs which could lead to root, and maybe more.)

with your model number (like in the post.) and wait for a response back!

you could also try dumping your stock rom with romdump.

at root prompt does nothing but boot into the regular phone? correct?
 
Correct me if i'm wrong than writing to the phone a new recovery img would be useless because of the bootloader being/locked/fastboot disabled?

Edit nvmd answered my own question to myself!

hmmm.. checking a few more things.. have you attempted something like this? to be able to mount as rw?
