I've rooted all of my phones,Root to get rid of bloatware myself.
Just like overclocking my computer components,It's addicting.

Get the G3 Tweaks Box. It completes the G3 experience.

I read that and downloaded it. However, it says you need to install Xposed, and Xposed says you should have a custom recovery before you use it. Can only the T-Mobile group use all the fun things right now?

I believe it said that it works better with a custom recovery but also gives you the option to install it anyway. It works without the custom recovery. I'm on Att

I would guess they recommend a custom recovery for a much easier way to recover from a bootloop if a module causes problems with your system. There is also a safe mode option built into xposed. I haven't tested it for function as I have a custom recovery on my G2.

what he says.

overall, with root and without custom recovery one should be extremely careful when installing stuff.

G3 Tweaks box works perfectly fine without the custom recovery. But of course you can play it as safe as you like.

I've rooted in the past and I'm sure the process has changed but I don't have time to worry about flashing ROMS, OTA updates etc.. It was fun when I was able to spend time doing that. I think the phones come with a lot of the stuff that I rooted to get in the past.

From what I understand, devs have managed to obtain root access on the G3 for all carriers except Sprint. Unfortunately, I'm with Sprint. Love this phone though and wanted a change from the Samsung brand. There's a much bigger developer community it seems for Samsung Galaxy phones.

That's correct. No root as of now for the Sprint G3.

I am so glad I left Sprint and went to T-Mo :D

I don't buy a phone that I can't root.
First thing I do out of the box, even before cellular activation, is root.
Then I disable all the crapware and enable tethering.

Just installed Xposed framework and have been playing with the g3 tweak box. Fun times ☺

Isn't it great?! I love that you can set the nav and status bars to change colors and match the color of whatever app you're using. It's beautiful!
