Root Rootable? and what can I actually do?

Hi there, My device info is given below:

Model Number: DROID3
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: N_03.18.32P
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-g5fa4155xrpk47@il93lnxdroid25 #1
Build number: 5.5.1_84_D3G-66_M2-10

I am new to android. Is my device rootable? Would I face any problems after rooting my device? What should I do? Please help me. I am afraid I might damage my phone. I really was looking into trying to overclock and wifi tether. What else can I do?

WE have an "All Things Root" subforum here: Droid 3 - All Things Root - Android Forums

Sorry, busy weekend for me so I will answer in more detail later. From what I have gathered, there is little spectacular that you can do with rooting the D3 short of eliminating bloatware and getting some nice themed (and themable) custom ROMs. CyanogenMod ROMs for the D3 are incomplete (both CM7 and CM9), so they are not too ready for daily use.

You can root using motofail for the DROID 4.
There is an overclock script if you can find it
Also several roms that already come over clocked
wifi tether can be downloaded from the market
