Root Rooted and Now Cannot Download, Update or Uninstall Apps!?!

BamaTide

Newbie
I rooted my DINC and did nandroid backup last night with Unrevoked/clockwork, and for some reason a few of my apps disappeared off the phone directly after. I'm not sure if it's related to rooting or nandroid backup, but when I went to reinstall them and hit OK for permissions from the market, it just sits there and does nothing....never installs. I also cannot update apps or even uninstall apps. It just sits there on the uninstall screen endlessly. WTF!?! Never had this problem before. I'm not running any custom ROMs/kernals. Should I try a nandroid restore?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried rebooting? Or unmount and mount the sd card.

Yes, I have rebooted. Using the system SD card unmount will not work.....just keeps force closing. Also, the format SD card option is grayed out and unavailable. It is however showing my SD card storage space info, and my other files on the SD card (movies, music, etc.) are still there.

Spitballing here but I'd move the SD contents to the PC and format the card (may as well do FAT32 since you're rooted) using the PC to format. Then add the contents back to the card and see what gives.

Another thought would be to wipe data on the market app, re-enter you credentials and see if that helps.

Thanks. SD card must have gotten corrupted. Removed it completely and I can now install from the market again.

Problem now is that my computer isn't recognizing the SD card to format it.

Hmmm.....seems to be working fine now. I powered down, removed the SD card, powered on, successfully downloaded an app from the market, then reinserted the SD card and everything was fine. All of my apps from the SD card showed up again....weird.

Does nandroid restore apps on/to SD?

No, it doesn't back up or restore things on the card. By the way, once your card is working to your satisfaction it might be a good idea to make a new nandroid just in case it was in the middle of doing the previous one that things went wrong...

I had all sorts of random goofy SD problems with multiple devices (and yes they were all formatted FAT32) on the Incredible till I got one of the expensive certified fast coolio gold plated MicroSD cards. Now after 6 months, not one problem

Moral: Use a high quality/fast SD card (and format it FAT32 or format it on the phone).
