I don't think upgrading the voicemail will have any effect on root, you are just upgrading the voicemail not your firmware.

Another way you may want to look into is, finding the NEW upgraded voicemail zip and upgrade it that way

i have Superuser in my apps and i have a wireless tethering program, just didnt want to do an upgrade and undo all my work and have to redo again. i had problems rooting until i saw that you had to be on a specific Build # regardless of your Firmware.

i am heistant to do the voicemail upgrade since it popped up right after i downgraded the RUU to 2.27. now the 0_0 symbol wont come off the notification bar and it drives me nuts.

i will try the upgrade and see what happens.

thanks!

NP should not be an issue

Ah, so the root stays even after this update. I guess Sprint and HTC gave up on trying to thwart the rooters.

But I wonder if you are not rooted before applying this update, if you can still root later on. That might be how it works after all.

Very possible, one good way to find out it update, then Root, it is about time you do now, LOL they hounded me until I rooted now my turn to hound someone else

Yeah, I know, man. I have researched it to death and know the process inside and out, and still have not gotten around to rooting yet. It is kind of ironic if you think about it. I have been giving people advice on the rooting ins and outs and I am not even rooted myself. :D

I am definitely rooting in the near future though. One by one I am seeing long time hold outs finally rooting, including you, DonB, and I want in on the fun. :)

I'll remind you again in a week,LOL :D

Guys, he updated his Sprint visual voicemail, not his firmware:confused:
