Root Rooted DX - A few things I noticed - Help Needed

Hey guys,

I am new here as you can tell by this being my first post. I have a Droid X that I rooted successfully last night using z4root.

I did make a bootstrap nandroid backup, and I have installed Titanium Backup and registered it.

The System Version is 2.3.340.MB810
Android Version 2.21

There are just a few minor problems I have noticed since rooting and I was hoping someone here may be able to help me.

1. I cannot seem to get Amazon MP3 to uninstall.
- I use Titanium to both uninstall and do a force stop and reboot. When it restarts the program is still there. Other bloatwear I removed with no problem.

2. Some apps like RockPlayer will not install successfully. (I had to uninstall it and it will install now but not open. I have tried the Rockplayer Universal and ARMv6) Same results with both - crashed when I try to open it. Also - what is the difference in the ARM versions?

3. I noticed that when I am in the app market, I will click on something and it will simply say "loading" and hang, I hit the back button, go in again and it may go. I never had this issue before.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

*EDIT* I just noticed that Skype Mobile keeps coming back too.

Thanks

rooting your phone shouldn't cause you any issues, b/c all it does is give you access to the root directories of your phone, once you have root access (hence the term rooting) then any changes you make could have negative effects. more likely you have unistalled something you considered bloatware that was a necessary file for these nonfunctioning programs to run.

I would restore your nandroid and start again. you won't need to reroot b/c your backup was made after you rooted. from there I would try to use/download these programs again. also, i wouldn't recommend actually uninstalling any of the bloatware as its all needed for updates. the better option is to use the freeze function in titanium backup. then, when OS updates are released all you have to do is unfreeze your bloatware. i say this b/c if you forget to reinstall even one .apk from the bloat, then your update will fail or possibly brick your phone.

good luck, look in the sticky guides here as there are a lot of lists of programs you can freeze/remove and not affect the function of your phone.

Welp, for me, the easy thing would be to install a rom that wipes the bloat away for you. I'm going to suggest you try either Liberty or Fission to start. They are both lean, fast and user friendly.

Thanks for the help. I only removed three or four items. Blockbuster, NFS, Skype, Wireless (Verizon Hot Spot), and Amazon MP3.

Tried too remove some of them anyway. LOL

I will follow your suggestion about restoring the nandroid.

I installed the liberty ROM last night after wiping and following the suggestions above. Funny thing is two apps till show up - Skype Mobile, and Amazon MP3.

I tried to freeze them with Titanium Backup, still there. How do I remove these two apps!!!

(Liberty is Sweet BTW)
