Root Rooted, Now What?

Hi Guys,
Am new to the forum and very very green so be gentle...

Just rooted my Orange branded Desire last night. All went well using Unrevoked... ClockworkMod Recovery V2.

I'm not too sure where to go next though... I want to debrand the Desire from all that crap that Orange put on and have future updates direct from HTC...

Please can someone kindly direct me to some current guides that explain all the benefits of rooting so i can get started...

Do you want to keep the orange ROM? You can either flash a custom rom which doesn't have the stuff on it, or remove it manually. Although, the latter is quite tricky.

You cant receive OTA updates now anyway (and if you do, you may break things)

<<<<<<<<<<< lefty bits here, they may give you links or you can google all manner of different roms, tweaks and set ups.

I'd advise trying a rom like LeeDroid.

It essentially gives you a stock Sense rom with a few trimmings - A2SD+, the ability to over/underclock, switch on with the trackpad, you can flash themes and a few apps come bundled.

A nice introduction to custom roms and probably easier than removing stuff from the stock one.

If you're happy with HTC Sense, I'd also suggest trying a LeeDroid ROM. Very stable and a great place to start.

I started with LeeDroid. VERY stable, fairly fast and responsive. Now on Defrost after a hiccup or 2 - lol

Its a very good rom for noobs and its the one I started out with, I think Miui is a very good one for noobs too.

no more for noobs that defrost tbh
al roms non sense take some learning as you have to wash your brain of sense

Depends on noobness. If noob to teh desire and HTC in general, i woudl recommend a sense rom as you dont know what you'd be missing until you have experienced it.

If familiar with teh desire, no issues recommending either of the above.
