Root Rooted - stuck in startup loop

kao

Newbie
So I finally rooted my Desire after reading this:

http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/226906-one-click-root-desire.html

and

http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/221212-faq-rooting.html

All went good, root worked fine and I got back to using the phone.

Then I went and did a Nandroid backup (yes, i read the bit about sometimes getting stuck in a loop in the FAQ). Once i saw that it was in a loop I just went to go back into recovery and restore it, but when I do it says "MD5 mismatch".

any help?

ive seen this before, thats a bit of a pain mate
basically some contents on your sdcard have become corrupted and the md5 doesnt match the file so for protection purposes it wont flash the nand.

you could try backing up the folder structure to your pc my mounting the sdcard from recovery or using a usb adapter
format the sdcard using the adapter
placing the files back on the trying to restore again.
if this fails then cut your losses, wipe/factory reset and install a custom rom.

its rare this happens but its down to a few things at once

you could try it
theres no best roms, there is popular roms
you could try flashing teppics rooted stock rom from xda developers as a basic start.

Ok well I did a wipe/factory reset and it still won't boot... stuck on the O2 splash screen. How do I go about installing a different rom (leedroid probably)? :/

Or is it dead?
