Root Rooting and Sprint Hot Spot

Hi All, I had an EVO 4 that was rooted that gave me Hot Spot access. I upgraded to the HTC EVO 4G LTE and just now learned the Hot Spot functionality does not come with the upgraded phone automatically (it shows it on the phone but it isn't functional unless you call Sprint and add it to your bill) but that I must pay for this feature. When I root a EVO 4G LTE will I be able to connect to Hot Spot without turning this on with Sprint?

Thanks,

Just like for you EVO 4G, the EVO 4G LTE has ROMS that have the hotspot hacked to work for free. There are also other apps you can use as well.

Like Early mentioned above, if you use it...do so sparingly. There have been people who have been caught and kicked off the network in the past. Its not meant to replace your home internet connection.

Got it. Thanks for the feedback. It may not be worth it then. I'm a bit dissapointed in the EVO 4G LTE. It isn't quite as fast as I expected with LTE and the phone is not better than the 4G I had previously. Everyone like the newest thing but it isn't that much better. Live and learn.....

Are you sure you actually have LTE in your area?

Every report I've seen of active LTE flies.

My wife has my OG evo still in service, and I still load roms onto it for her and play around. My LTE is hand over fist faster for operations, now the data speeds are exactly the same. No LTE in Pittsburgh yet. :(

what rom are you on? all of the roms i have flashed has the hotspot hacked. just go here http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/614073-list-utilities-roms-kernels.html and checkout the staff picks. they are great suggestions of roms to try out.

also i have both phoness, my og evo (whichis not actviated so i use it as an mp3 player mostly) and i also have the evo lte. i will say this as fast as i thought at the time was my og evo, my evo lte is waaaaaaay faster then the og. have you tried any custom kernels yet and overclock it? my evo lte can go up to 1890mhz with out freaking out......my og evo would freak out if i go over 1000mhz!!!!!

you can get most of the kernels from the list i linked above.

lol i have yet to go that high.......not sure why. i guess it is already blazing fast that i do not see a reason to go higher.

Oh I def agree. I actually usually underclock it down around 900mhz and no issues

Its just nice to know its an option :p
