Root Rooting Desire with 1.06 bootloader

I have been searching for weeks now on how to root this thing. Even though there is no way of actually doing it... Anyways, could a temp root from z4root be a nice solution until then? If so, can I enjoy the benefits of free tethering, etc?

Also, I found a website that seems promising. I will post the link and get some feedback. I want to do this so bad...

You can temp root with visionary+ but its lost at reboot. Thats the best you can get right now.

SUroot as i was AWOL for a while i missed info on the 1.06 hboot
you got any links or info on it for me to read up?

is it shipped with a ROM?

There are some threads here which I will try to dig out. Some of the us cellular users had to irc unrevoked and they said they're working on it but that was a while ago.

As far as I can tell, 1.06 ships with US cellular 2.2 ota and full release. Not seen it anywhere else

SU, I never tunr my phone off anyways, but if i did this temp root, could I do things that I could with a permanent root? like, tethering?
If so, how can I set it up?

You can use root apps yes. Just can't flash anything
