Root Rooting error

I am following the guide to root my phone, found here, and I'm stuck in step 9. The LG Updater can connect to my phone, it can read all the data but it won't go to the "Downloading do not unplug" screen. I have followed the guide exactly and installed all necessary drivers. Please someone help me and tell me what's going wrong. Also please don't tell me to go onto the IRC chat, it's not loading for me.

Use the LGNPST alternate V6 downgrade method

Are apps like z4root or universal androot compatible with Ally Froyo 2.2.1 or am I completely SOL there?

I am using Windows XP Professional SP2 with .NET 2.0 installed.

I don't want to use the other tutorial, it looks way to complicated for me. I'm alright with tech stuff, but that looks a little over my head.

Titanium Backup.

Really there isn't much for data stored on your phone other than your Google sign in and wifi passwords/bluetooth pairings. Some game saves might be lost too. Anything that's on your SD card will remain

I thought you can only use Titanium Backup if you are rooted.

Yeah it only works with root. They must have only looked at your last post. But you will you will lose everything. But google backs up your contacts. But never again!

I had to do a factory reset a while back and I used MyBackup, but it was just a trial which is up. The pro version is around $5 and I really can't afford it. I remember it backed up everything. That's the only thing that I could find. I guess I'll have to shell out the money or just lose everything.

You can redownload all the apps, and you wont miss the data. And like i said its the one time you wont be able to restore. Then you can use titanium backup. Free version does all you need but pro is definitely worth it.

Alright I will give it a try hopefully this weekend. Sorry I am slow to respond, I'm in college and things are starting to get busier than normal.
