Root Rooting on linux

Hello forum.... I got this phone and I've been quite pleased with it but it was time to upgrade so I've decided to root. Although, I run linux mint 12 on my laptop, and cannot find a decent way to root... I dot the mini SDK downloaded, but when I connect my phone and run ./adb devices, there are no devices listed. I have HTC sync but came to find out that its only on windows. Can anyone please help me solve this issue? I killed and restarted the server but still only the same result. If there can be a solution, or resurrection to a possible help, is appreciate it.

Did you create /udev rule for your device? If not:

Using Hardware Devices | Android Developers

Note that they used HTC as an example in that link so it makes it a little easier for you. However, if the "0bb4" doesn't work for you, be sure to try "18d1" instead as I just read that it is the vendor ID for some newer HTC devices.

Alright, I tried and may be doing it wrong, but Its still. Not working.... I added the file but nothing, sudo restart udev, and still nothing. I even tried adding the full device id (0bb4:0cba) to the rules file, but it still returns an empty device list... Any advice? Or do i still need To just mess around with it?

used file 51-android.rules and 99-android.rules as file names

The product ID for mine registers as 0ff0 when in the bootloader. Including a rule for that ID as well as 0cba worked for me and rooted my phone entirely from Linux.

I rooted, then ROMed, on Fedora Core 14.

I used the build environment that I setup for my Triumph. It worked fine using Leslie Ann's guide.

I do need to run adb as root, at least to get the service running.

Alright... I got it connected to a computer, not my laptop (linux mint 12, gnome 3) but it connected to my old as dirt desktop I installed kde pc linux os 2007 on, without having to create a udev rules file. Anyways, I would like to thank you for the help... I learned how to do udev rules out of this and I did unlock the boot loader :D

Is it possible for one of you guys to post the steps you did in rooting on linux? or possibly link where the instructions can be found? I was reading the root newbies root guide and I wasn't sure if what you type in the command prompt the same as what you would type in the terminal since the guide was geared more towards windows.

Thank you in advanced
